dpi, resolution, conversion to pdf

after converting book project to pdf dpi is degraded to an unacceptable level. i.e. 300 dpi images are saved as 100 dpi. How do I maintain high resolution in converting to pdf?

Cant export pdfs (Error 5107.w.fi.gs) after fresh Win 10 re-install
