I'm using the free version Magix Music Maker version 28.0.2.47 and there is no export option to MP3 - there is for WAV etc. But I see help videos that show the MP3 option in the FILE / EXPORT. Or I can buy DELUXE for $60? do i have the wrong version

No, this feature is intentionally missing. It works in Samplitude Music Studio. There is a workaround. Create a non-looping MIDI-Object over your whole song. Place the red playback line at the beginning of a small midi object. Open the MIDI editor.
