RE: New to Magix
Well it seems my writing style leaves data out of the details, while it is clear to me in my head. So here is what I did, as referenced in your post: I created an oval with a white border and transparent center. Then I added a rectangle with an

RE: Preview playback
I believe that this is in fact a Magix problem. The reason why i say this is: 1) You dont need a super computer to playback a video file. 2) If you just play a file, even before adding it to the project or the timeline... it also

RE: Rotation - highly flexible method from wabu
Hi To add to Wabu's method:- You can also do this with videos by using MEP as follows: 1. Start a new project and import the video you want to rotate about a given point. 2. Adjusting the video size/position only to give the offsets need

RE: New to Magix
Terry, Well I certainly didn't understand the transparency item fully. So thanks for that. FYI - MS PowerPoint can build transparent shapes and you can save them off as a PNG, JPG or BMP. I used your rounded edge box process to

RE: New to Magix
Hi Jay, No need for Effect Masks, etc! My white-bordered rounded rectangle with transparent interior wasn't made in MEP! "... back in my image editor (PaintShop Pro 8 in my case), I increased the width of the border a tad, and then re-imported

RE: how to isolate section of video
The usual scheme is to have two copies of your clip (one normal and one blurred etc) separated by an 'alpha mask': Track 1 normal clip Track 2 the mask eg a white circle on a black background .jpg image with 'alpha' chroma key applied. Track

RE: New to Magix
Terry, First, I have followed your Effects Masks PDF instructions and can get it to work on the first video track. However, when I tried a PIP I had to delete and start over almost every time. The issue is you must first add the effect and then

RE: Movie Edit Pro2013-White box present using Title-Fonts with BG after exported?
Guy, I've had a further look at how MEP does this using ''Text Appears" and have made progress but sorry can't do much more right now. So far... 'Text appears' is a package deal with some setting designed I'd say to prevent the casual user

RE: Movie Edit Pro2013-White box present using Title-Fonts with BG after exported?
Guy, I don't see your problem here, or in an export: If I change the Chroma key setting for the 'trans area' object from white to black (under 'Effects' >> 'Video effects' >> 'Chroma key') I do get a big semi transparent white

RE: New to Magix
Hi, I have been using MEP for just under a year now and I just love it. I have Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 ultimate, and really the only reason I bought it is because of the flexibility that it has with chroma key. That is the only thing I

RE: Problem with Fades / Transitions not working properly MEP 2013
Thanks for the reply, Trial versions (and download purchases vs box sets) don't come with all the transitions, design elements, DVD templates etc. I figured that and that's ok (and yep I've already extended my trial). I'm not after

prizm4, Trial versions (and download purchases vs box sets) don't come with all the transitions, design elements, DVD templates etc. They can be downloaded -- see 'Help' >> 'Free downloads'. There may be some items, like say Dolby 5.1

RE: Green screen results: Magix v PaintShop Pro
Hi Terry, I would agree that MEP's chroma key adjustments leave a lot to be desired. In addition to MEP, I am using Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate and Cyberlink PowerDirector 11, and both products handle green screen much better than MEP.

RE: Something like Adobe after
Hi Magix really does not have an application that compares directly to the AE CS6 product, but components of what AE CS6 does are available from Xara (which is part of Magix) plus as additional plug-ins from NewBlue FX and ProDad. I have not

RE: MEP2013 Color Correction: Buggy?
Hi Terry You sure seem to get some strange things happening. That switching out of H/W accel display mode makes me wonder maybe that your system has a problem. Perhaps your graphics card has a fault - can you do some sort of torture test or swap

RE: Green screen results: Magix v PaintShop Pro
Hi Peter, Thanks, all makes sense to me. As you imply, all that aspect of the discussion is now irrelevant anyway in view of my later test, on a still image. With hindsight I should have done that first, and not mentioned the movie clip! If

RE: Green screen results: Magix v PaintShop Pro
Hi Terry Are you aware of the improvements to Chroma key in 2013 - only thing is it only appears when you choose the "Colour" option (top middle) and sample the green with the eyedropper. With this you have an additional "Antispill" slider

I bought myself an inexpensive green screen with the vague intention of trying to amuse my grandsons at Christmas with some special effects. Grandad On The Moon, etc... I was impatient to try it although I didn't expect good results as it was

RE: Chroma Key: Is there a way if my background is a cloud video to cut portion of it using a black box photo? so that within the black box, I can run a slide that moves?
Hi, I'm assuming that by 'a slide that moves' you mean a rectangularly framed still image like the one you showed that moves around the screen. If so you don't need Chroma Key, either for the static example you presented or for one with 'a

Chroma Key: Is there a way if my background is a cloud video to cut portion of it using a black box photo? so that within the black box, I can run a slide that moves?
If you look at the middle of this video, I have a box where the photo slide is and background is a cloud video. But b/c the photo is a box infront of the background video, I can't have the slides move within the video. I would

RE: MEP 2013 Preloading - slow? ineffective?
Hi John When you say all your data files, do you mean the MVP project files as well? I have always thought that it best to keep them on C: so that nothing interupts the Data disc's flow of high bandwidth video data. Whilst a modern Sata disc

Mental model for working with alpha masks?
I've got a block about how to visualise alpha masks in MEP that's driving me nuts and I'm hoping that someone can set me straight please! I think of MEP tracks as layers. If two opaque objects are placed in tracks 1 and 2 you will only see the
