@johnebaker John, these are not DV files. DVDate can only transcode them into DV, which results in a DV-sized file (220mb>4gb) with PCM audio. I'd suggest that this is not the best way to fix these.

@Moose A warning: MMS does not correctly interpret analogue AVIs (including it's own-recorded MXVs!) so that they show as 5:4 in the monitor and export, instead of 4:3. You have to go to the Size {Position Rotation function and click "Original Size"
