RE: How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
Phew! Then you have got quite a task ahead of you to get some reasonable picture quality when starting from that point, and I would say that Neat Video plugin would be essential. I do not have it but those de-noising programs often have a sharpening

@lauriemessage @emmrecs @johnebaker I just found what appears to be the original source of the 8mm files. They are on a VHS cassette. We must have copied them onto a computer in 2006 and that's how the MVD movie was created. Phew! Then you have got

RE: How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
@lauriemessage My guess is that the company that scanned the 8mm film supplied the digital files in the form of a DVD Video disc, rather that a data disc with the individual MPEG files in a folder, therefore I think your .VOB's are the ones that

@lauriemessage OK no problem. I realise that the movies were originally 8mm film but what and where are the digitised video files that were created during film scanning and supplied to you. Are they in fact the .VOB files in your 2nd file explorer

@lauriemessage Your screen shots appear to be 2 X Data CD'S or DVD's from a back up set from MEP that covers 12 or more discs so it is possible that there are copies of you original video files somewhere in the set. What format were the video clips

@lauriemessage, @emmrecs Hi . . . . .VOB files can be directly imported to the VPX timeline (just make sure you insert them in the "right" order. They are consecutively numbered . . . . Do not import the VIDEO_TS.VOB file, this is the disc menu

@lauriemessage @emmrecs Hi .....and an MVD file on the Magix backup CD. Is this a CD (DVD?) backup of the projects .MVD (Movie file) created using the backup feature in the File menu of an earlier version of MEP? If so it may contain the original

RE: How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
@lauriemessage The actual video footage is contained in the .VOB files. All the others are, with the exception of the .MVD file, data files which are a needed part of the DVD specification but their only purpose is to enable your DVD player to

How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
Hello. In 2006 we converted 8mm footage to a movie that includes BUP, VOB, IFO and an MVD file on the Magix backup CD. Is it possible to convert the old footage to an MP4 or AVI file, using Video ProX (version 18.0.1.85 on a Windows 10 computer)? If

@emmrecs @srpohl @johnebaker ...However, I know that @AAProds (Al) does use such files, though with a specific codec, so I have tagged him here so that he can, hopefully, offer advice based on his experience... I do and I love them (AVIs)! Let me

@srpohl Hi . . . . The first is to have an AVI, with effects, "archive" file . . . . Second is using that file to create a DVD using TMPGEnc . . . Why use a third party program to create the DVD? VPX can do this without the need for re-encoding the

RE: importing a VOB video file
@norman-anderson Hi Norman. I'm pretty sure there are certain codecs and other things that may not work in the trial version. The codec needed may not be a part of the trial. I don't know which bits won't as I never used the trial version or use VOB

    importing a VOB video file
I am trying to use Movie Edit Pro 2021. When I try to import a VOB video file, I get an error message "MPEG-2-Codec is not available" ; then a further message states "Check that the drive is not full or write-protected". Well, the drive is not full

    Video Formats
I am a new user of Magix Photostory Deluxe. I have embarked on a multi volume “Story”, probably divided into a 5 DVD set that spans 50 years of mostly photos and some movie and video clips. So, I am dealing with a lot of older low-quality material

RE: VHS Transfer and Editing Inquiry
@hdrechsel18 @emmrecs seriously consider whether it would be worth you investing in something like one of the Canopus (Grass Valley) range of hardware analogue to digital video convertors. This will allow you to convert the analogue footage from the

Wow...Thanks Jeff for the info on the .VOB files - wasn't really sure what they were, but now I see that they are probably what an MP3 is to a .WAV file. And yes, unfortunately the Magnavox offers no control over the quality. As mentioned, I'm on a

RE: VHS Transfer and Editing Inquiry
@hdrechsel18 OK, I will immediately "declare an interest" in this thread, since I do this sort of work "professionally", i.e. clients pay me to transfer VHS (and other types of analogue and digital footage) to DVD. To me, the most "critical" part of

    VHS Transfer and Editing Inquiry
I'm involved in a rather large project (Christmas gift for my brother): he gave me three 120 minute VHS tapes of his vacation trip to Alaska, that he would like me to place on a DVD for him. Simple enough, but I'm also working on a production that

@mark-perry Mark, re the first, I think you're being a bit harsh criticising MEP not capturing that VHS properly. That tape recording looks seriously corrupted and probably needs to be run through a TBC (Time-Based Corrector) between the VCR and the
