    RE: compatability with windows 10
John and Jeff, thanks. My knowledge on the whole computer thing is very limited,(it just seems like baffling magic to me) so I try to follow the steps carefully but then need to wait for my friend's assistance when he is available if I get stuck. I

    RE: compatability with windows 10
@Andrew-Thompson do I understand correctly that you are using Windows 10 and are able to import video via the firewire into MEP? Yes, I can. Although my set up is somewhat different to yours, I run Win 10 1909 and can import, via Firewire, from my

RE: Possible to use HDMI for video capture?
If you cannot get the Firewire working, then as the HV30 has a Composite video/audio output you can use a USB video capture device such as a Terratec Grabby. with MEP. Yes but that would only give you Standard Definition video. HV30 records DV / HDV

Hi . . . I understand correctly that you are using Windows 10 and are able to import video via the firewire into MEP? . . . On my old computer, not a Dell, running Windows 10 I was able to capture via Firewire from an old JVC camera. The procedure

I am pretty sure I did. When I get onto the pc again I will attempt to go through that install procedure again. So do I understand correctly that you are using Windows 10 and are able to import video via the firewire into MEP?

    RE: compatability with windows 10
K, so a bit of online research has revealed the following: there is an issue with Firewire port compatability with windows 10. Apparently this mainly affects Dell computors....guess what I have? The information also suggests that installing a

    RE: compatability with windows 10
@Andrew-Thompson it may also be that the drivers for the camcorder/firewire is not fully compatible with Windows10. You can try running drivers - or even MEP, in compatibility mode for just the purpose of the capture process.

    RE: compatability with windows 10
@Andrew-Thompson Hi Andrew. You say you have done this for years. Do you have the appropriate drivers for the firewire interface? Is your copy of MEP otherwise working OK? If you can see and hear the video on the Camcorder it's not dirty heads. It

RE: Audio problem with playback of old .avi files
Thanks Ray. There was software that would "see" a firewire connection to a Sony Hi8 camera and let you transfer analog to digital back in the days of Vista, WIn98, and earlier. I have viewed and edited those files for years using several

@mark-perry Welcome to the Magix forums. When you say you have "MEP 17" (which variant, btw?) can you tell us the exact version number, found under Help>About? There was a version "17" and a later version "2017", often abbreviated to 17, so

Hi @slackerdan Are you selecting the HDV option when you launch the record via the red button in Video Deluxe? This should be preset with a record template for 1440x1080i ie the HDV format. If it has a DV format template then it might be that you

@slackerdan Hi From the information you have given ie transferring from camera via Firewire (i.Link) suggest that this is an older mini DV tape camera, in which case, from the mini DV cameras I have used, 720x480 (AR 4:3 or16:9) is the maximum
