RE: Getting Firewire to work on an old laptop fitted with a FireWire socke
@AnnTH Hi I would like to add a cautionary warning:- On Amazon and many other sites you will find many cables which claim to enable Firewire devices to be connected to a USB port. These are not true converters, they are adapters and will not work

[Closed] Capture is not working
I am using Movie Studio 13.0 Platinum; serial number removed by Moderator in Windows 11. My camcorder is a DCR-TRV340. I am using a Toshiba VCR with composite connections to a hub then to the camcorder. Then the Firewire connection to a Firewire

RE: Problem download video using FIREWIRE
Hello Rob, thank you for your input. I think Magix is activated. I just try to download video from hard disk, make short edit and safe as MPEG-2. Everything is working. I think there is problem with connection with my firewire card. I did not use it

Will not record Video from Camcorder via FireWire
Running trial version of VS 2025 but it will not record or receive Video from my Camcorder via FireWire. It knows the camera is there as I can stop and start it from the on screen display, but no Video appears in the preview screen. I am running

RE: Videowandler 2 issues...
I can't find such a cable, and this is indeed an old camcorder. I don't have a firewire port on my PC either, and those firewire cards for the motherboard seem really expensive. I have a USB-C connector, however. I don't know much about how well

RE: Getting Firewire to work on an old laptop fitted with a FireWire socke
Thank you John EB for your concern. I have no intention of buying any cables from Amazon. I hate Amazon and have even signed partitions against them as they have had a poor record of safety in Britain in some of their factories. If I do need

Thank you for your reply. My friends camera is a Sony DCR-HC30E. I have had a look at your notes on WinDV and Scenalyzer and screen grabbed quite a few pages in case she wants to try your suggestions but I am not sure if she could cope with another

RE: Problem download video using FIREWIRE
@zdenekrsa I regularly use Firewire to download video from a range of digital video cameras but I have never seen either of those error messages. I assume you are trying to use the DV to MPEG icon option on the Capture screen. Is that correct? If

RE: MAGIX Video easy 5 HD
@CubeAce Ray, with all due respect, enough, please. Windows, from 8 on, still supports Firewire and to message otherwise ["Firewire support was officially dropped from Windows 10 onwards"] is unnecessary scaremongering. I'm not going to say any more

RE: Videowandler 2 issues...
@Sami-Pekonmki My comments are based on this manual. Sami, do you by any chance, have a DV/Firewire port on your computer? That camcorder appears to be miniDV and the best transfer is via Firewire. Regarding the video signal, you would get better

RE: MAGIX Video easy 5 HD
@johnebaker I don't believe there are such things as 32bit and 64bit Firewire devices. There are different Firewire drivers for 32 or 64 bit Win8/8.1 (Ray's link) but there are no separate legacy drivers for Win 10, and Win 11 (64 bit only, of

RE: MAGIX Video easy 5 HD
@CubeAce Ray, There are no "manufacturer's" Firewire drivers. I suspect that Dell was sending out the MS Legacy driver for users to install on their Dell "optimised Windows" PC. There is currently only two FW drivers, both Microsoft-supplied: the

RE: Misleading "DV Processing" Claim?
@SP. Yes, that's where this advert is misleading: for a pure DV transfer, you need Firewire, which this product doesn't have. Those Canopus boxes required a Firewire port on the computer.

RE: Misleading "DV Processing" Claim?
@SP. Not sure if there are any DV capture cards today. I recently installed a cheapie from Amazon and it goes like a champion on Win 11. If you have more than a few DV tapes, it's definitely worthwhile sticking one of these in your machine.
