4K export settings for MEP 2015

Hi

Can anybody tell me the best export settings for 4K video please (UK). Whether choosing one of the options already available or editing one of them to produce good quality video but minimising the file size.

I ask because I imported a 4K video I took with my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 using the Ultra HDTV 25p 16:9 (3840 x 2160; 25fps) setting (the same as the video I am importing) and when I go to export it (export movie as mpeg-4) the preset is states 'user defined' but it's only at 6000 (6 thousand) bitrate (which exports as bad quality). If I change the preset to Ultra HDTV 25p 16:9 (3840 x 2160; 25fps) it then changes to 60000 (60 thousand) which gives good quality but a huge file. Is there an inbetween solution with harming the quallity of the video?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Depending on what you want to play the 4K on, it is going to be a bit of experimentation.

The presets are optimised for the best all round compromise of picture and audio quality vs file size.

As a starting point have a look at what Youtube recommend - I would recommend you only change the video bitrates - changing the more advanced  parameters can actually induce poorer quality.

Once you have a suitable combination then you can save this as an export preset giving it an appropriate name.

Thanks for the quick response and advice.

I shall check out your link and, as you suggest, do a bit of experimentation over the weekend and post back for future reference for any other interested MEP'ers.

Cheers

Did some testing and 30-40Mbps bit rate seems an acceptable range for good quality with a smaller file size.

Thanks to John EB for the youtube recommendations link.
