4k mp4 files preview / play only audio portion of file ... NO VIDEO

MEP16 Premium Plus (2017 version for clarification), Win 10 HP 4k computer,16gb ram

I have purchased every MEP version since 2008, so I'm aware of the brands abilities and functionalities, which continue to get better with each version ... so I'm a longtime fan and user.

On the version mentioned above, any 4k mp4 file imported or previewed plays back only audio, NO VIDEO. These files were recorded on a Samsung s9+ phone in 4k. The files playback fine on the phone and on my other Win10 computer (no MEP programs installed), using WMP. On the system described above, I purchased and installed the Main Concept Mpeg 4 codec in August 2017 and it has worked wonderfully on HD projects since then. This was my first attempt to do a 4k project using MEP, which is supposed to be able to edit and produce 4k files. Not sure why this is happening ... what am I missing here?

@Radioasset

Sorry but your PC spec breakdown doesn't mean that much to me without specifics but I'll try and see if I can offer a solution.

Some phones produce variable frame rate video which MEP cannot handle. It can be possible to run such videos through a program called Handbrake to give a constant frame rate conversion video that MEP can handle. It is not purely a MEP problem as other editors also have the same problem with some phones that produce variable frame rate video files.

If you don't have a program called MediaInfo (a free download you can look for on the net) then please download it and use it t look at the video files frame rate, bit rate, and video encoding. That information can be found in the 'tree view' of the program. Please then copy the resulting text and post it back here if it makes no sense to you, as well as the actual full spec of your computer please. (processor, graphics spec, drive types and speeds and which Windows 10 version as well as the build version of of MEP (IE: Version 19.0.1.31). found under Help / About Magix Movie Edit Pro.

Then we may have a better idea than the one I've suggested above which at present is a pure guess as to what the trouble is.

Ray.
