Acid Music Studio 11 Fails to run.

stuart-cassie wrote on 2/19/2026, 9:18 AM

Just got Music Studio 11 ( Version 11.0.7 build 18 64 bit ) , and it ran the first time. No problem. When I have went back to it, it fails to load and from the loading screen I can see its failing at:- Loading Microsoft.Windows.ApplicationModel.Background.UniversalBGTask.dll

I have removed and reinstalled it, but no luck.

Any ideas how to get this running?

@stuart-cassie Can you look up a detailed crash report in the Windows Reliability Monitor and copy and paste it here?

@stuart-cassie Looks like it crashes during the VST scan (sfvstwrap.dll).

There was a similar discussion a few weeks ago for Acid Pro 11, which we could solve. Maybe it works as well for Acid Music Studio 11. You need to install the free demo version of Music Maker 2026 and copy and paste the files

audio_plugin_server.exe
audio_plugin_server_x64.exe
audio_plugin_scan_server_vst3.exe
audio_plugin_scan_server_vst3_x64.exe
audio_plugin_scan_server_vst2.exe
audio_plugin_scan_server_vst2_x64.exe

from the Music Maker program folder into the Acid program folder.

Please read the discussion here: https://www.magix.info/us/forum/waves-vst-plug-in-inssue--1351568/

Those files dont exist in the Music Studio 11 folders.

@stuart-cassie Ok, then this workaround doesn't help. Can you please try if you can reset the program settings? Hold CTRL and SHIFT and double click on the program icon to start Acid. Keep holding both keys until a small window appears that asks you to reset the program settings. Maybe it will run again. Also try to run Acid Music Studio with Windows 10 compatibility mode, in case you use Windows 11. You can change the compatibility mode settings by right clicking on the desktop program icon and then on properties.

Im on W10. Tried compatibility mode for W7 and W8. No good. Tried holding the keys down while starting acid and it just carries on till failure. No options or extra boxes appear. Does it store configurations/settings in a hidden file somewhere that I can delete?

@stuart-cassie Some other idea. These steps are for Acid Pro 10, not maybe they work also for Acid Music Studio 11. This will prevent Acid from doing a VST scan at startup. If you can start the program, you can open the VST Manager and remove a problematic VST paths which may include plugins that crash the program.

1). Right click on the Acid shortcut and click on Properties.

2). In the Target field add a space and /NOVSTGROVEL after the quotes. So the target filed should look something like "C:\Program Files\ACID\ACID Pro 10\acidpro.exe" /NOVSTGROVEL

3). It may tell you that you need administrator rights to do this and just say OK.

4). Then restart the program form that shortcut.
