Add New Movie vs Attach

Hi, Just upgraded to Movie edit Pro 17. In version 15, after I 'Import' a file, it asked whether it wanted me to attach it to the current movie or create a New movie. In 19, it always seems to attach it and I need to do Edit, then split if I want two movies. Is this correct or is there a way of attaching another movie as a New movie? Thank you

Actually, it depends on the exact type of file that you are trying to import. I import in MEP 17 in the Edit window using the explorer, locate my file and drag and drop it onto the timeline.  If you try to import a project file, .MVP then a message appears asking if you want to add the project or close the open one.

If an MVD file, then A movie is still open, would you like to close it etc or leave open. This will automatically be opened in a different time line.

However, if you are adding normal video files, MPEGs, AVIs etc, then they will simply be added to the right of the file you already have.  If you click on the film reel icon, then you have the option of a new movie. Do that and then drag and drop the file you have and this will do what you want. Cheers, M o' L.
