Adding camera manufacturer LUts

tonykwas wrote on 9/9/2021, 11:58 AM

Apologies to all the people here who have heard this so many times...but it's just taken me and my son (who is an IT tech) almost two hours to get to the bottom of this...

I have already had an enquiry asking if I made any progress from another user so this is for him and any other poor soul in the same boat...

If you are trying to add manufacturer LUTs to MEP 2022, follow the quite extended 3 page thread outlining what to do - the info on there is quite correct, but I had started at the top comment and was working down...we must have entered the path and created folders ten or more times or more before my son took over from me and spotted this gem:

Hi Ray

That is the correct location.

. . . . So is it the content LUT cube. files that made the difference . . . .

No, however you did trigger me to check if a support file was needed which it is.

Using Notepad enter the following text only

fileextension=cube
include_subdirectories=true

and save it as ias_config.ini and save it in both the LUTCamera and LUTEffects folders.

The reason why John CB and I did not have to do this was we had previously copied LUTs from VPX to MEP.

Many thanks John, once my son added this support file everything dropped into place...I don't understand what it is, what it does or why it works...I just know I now have Canon and Sony LUTs available to make the full use of my cameras...Thank you!

regards, Tony.

Hi Tony.

I'm glad the link I gave you was helpful.

Maybe my brain isn't as much of a colander as I thought 🤓.

I am never sure why such an implementation hasn't been done for MEP apart for the obvious reason that it is an advertised ability for VPX and not MEP. Have to justify the price differences 👍 😏

Ray.

Hi

I have tidied up the format of your post to make for better reading.

To keep the thread in chronological order it is better to post a comment rather than modify the original post, this way other users can follow the discussion as it occurred.
