Adding these 3 different HTML codes to my we page using WD17

ukjingles wrote on 9/15/2020, 1:25 PM

Hi all,

Somebody on another forum (Paul) has managed to work out the code needed but does anybody know how do you add all three sections using WD17?

https://codepen.io/paulobrien/embed/...s://codepen.io

That would be a question for the Xara support forums as I doubt anyone here uses wysiwyg editors any more. Most of the coders here do it from scratch so I’m not sure you will get the answer you need here unfortunately.
Usually there will be some sort of mechanism to add custom code and html etc (as in wordpress) but it usually involves a bit of effort. You will need to be able to add the script and the required css and be able to target the button via its id or class.
I had a quick link at the documentation but it doesn’t even mention custom code

Paul

Hi

The link does not work work.

. . . . has managed to work out the code needed . . . . .

For what? Please explain what you are wanting to do.

. . . . I doubt anyone here uses wysiwyg editors any more . . . .

On the contrary, a high proportion of 'web designers' use a wysiwyg editor, direct manual coding of an entire web site is not so common given the likes of Joomla, WordPress, Drupal etc, and complete functionality scripts such as jQuery.

Hi John,

This link should work.....

https://codepen.io/paulobrien/embed/preview/LYNBVXd?height=300&slug-hash=LYNBVXd&default-tabs=css,result&host=https://codepen.io

What I'm trying to do is make one of my pages (see below) that i created using WD17 to do the same effect (The page shakes/shudders) when you hit the Red Button......
I'm guessing its all to do with the Placeholder boxes in Web Properties..but what goes where?

Hi Pete

In theory the HTML goes in the Body and the Javascript and CSS in the header, however the code requires formatting correctly for XWD and a non standard property changing to avoid a series of syntax and unreachable code errors.

Does that mean it can't be done using WD17?
I think my original version (15 years ago) was done using Frontpage 2003 but it stopped working years ago (and I even tried Wayback machine to see if I could find it in it's working state!) 😉

No - it means the code needs formatting correctly for use in WD 17.

The CSS and Javascript S parts these could also be put into a css and js file and a link created in the header section to load the css and js files.

You could also ask in the Talk Graphics forum - this forum has been going for a long while and is more Xara product orientated then here.

Thanks John..Yes I did try the  Talk Graphics forum  BUT got no proper response to this problem!
Thanks anyway..It was worth trying..I might have to find someone and pay them to just do this page for me! 😏
