Adjusting effects sliders in full screen mode

Does anyone know if you can display the Effects adjustment window - say Brightness, overlayed on the Full Screen display of the Preview Monitor (in Single Monitor mode) in MEP2014?

I am sure this was advertised as a feature in 2014 release and that I have done this at one stage but can not remember how. I think there may have even been some discussion about the feature in some earlier thread.

Hi Peter,

That is really neat, except that I think it only works properly in VPX6. In MEP2014Plus and 2015Premium, there is no option to "Edit video effects" on the right-click menu or on the pop down menu on the full screen source monitor.

Here it is in VPX6:

Note the parameter at the bottom of the right-click context menu and the overlay.

However, MEP2015 Premium manual says:

The preview monitor shows the content of the current movie. In some cases the preview monitor is also used for editing certain effects. Examples of this are:

Title Editor
Various Movement effects

These show up with the title which can be edited or the dashed movement line, which I think is normal. I didn't try everything, but Brightness does not show up.

This also works in MEP2014 Plus and this version has something different from 2015. Right-clicking shows the inset box in the image below and has Time display. I found that if there is already a title, clicking on Time display opens the Title editor/media pool as an overlaid window. Then you can click on the Effects tab and modify the .....title.

There is no Time display in MEP2015 right-click menu and I couldn't get anything to open over the preview monitor in full screen. Thus some of the ability of MEP2014 got lost in 2015.

Thanks for reporting. It is a useful thing, especially where you are using a subtle effect like Sharpness say.

I have been able to overlay some of the Media Pool Effect windows as in your second screen shot, by using the keyboard shortcuts where they exist. Brightness = Alt+Shift+H works, but Sharpness = Ctrl+Alt+X doesn't as don't some others. To be fair several shortcuts do not seem to work even in the non full screen mode either on my setup, even after a reset in the Edit short cut window. The Effects window that opens however is the whole media pool window and this needs to be resized every time to the size you see in VPX with the subsequent Esc back to the default workspace requiring another reset to the standard window arrangement (should only require F9 but that is another shortcut that seems inactive!).........but damn....I am sure I have seen that smaller window like yours open in the past.

The result of the above is that what might be a good feature is too clumsy in practice, so I guess I will have to continue using the magnification feature in the minimized preview monitor, where detail is required.

Hi both,

I only discovered by accident a few months ago that my most used dialog, Size/Position, can be displayed by its shortcut in full screen monitor mode (in MEP 2104 Premium).

So too can Section, Camera/Zoom and Rotation/Mirror. (I have no shortcut set for 3D Distortion, but I expect that would work too.)

Prompted by your posts I found my Brightness shortcut worked too, and Sharpness, but not Color or Color Correction.

I haven't included my shortcuts as they are retained from a very early version and so almost certainly won't be the same as yours. A few seem to be have conflicting entries in the KB settings. One of them, Ctrl+Shift+d unceremoniously crashed MEP when I tried it to see if it brought up Color Correction, as implied in settings!

Well done! That is exactly it - use the shortcuts. It works in both MEP2014 and 2015. Brilliant!

I tried most of the video effects commands in 2015. Sharpness, Ctrl+Alt+S was the only one that didn't work (doesn't in 2014Plus either).

The problems indicated by Peter about resizing and then escaping out are still present in 2015, but F9 works in both 2014 and 2015 for me.

VPX6 has the most elegant solution.

What's with this captcha thing? Is it there for new Questions/Topics? That is where the problem is, and I noticed many spam questions posted in the Q&A part last night.

Terry what KB shortcut are you using for Sharpness? Ctrl+Alt+S has been the same since MEP17.

Hi Peter,

Mine is Ctrl+Shift+S. Probably dates from MEP 16 or earlier - maybe even back to MEP 11 or 12. But whenever it was, I recall that when Magix changed them radically I'd been using the previous ones for so long that I decided to stay with them, and (apart from a very few changed for convenience) I have done ever since.

As well as the crash I mentioned trying Ctrl+Shift+D, for Color Correction, I had another with Alt+Shift+F for Color. But today I retried both successfully!

One of these days I'll list the various undocumented KB shortcuts I know of. A new one occasionaly comes to light. Such as Alt+Shift+P which I found this morning. In my list it's supposed to 'Set snap point' (a feature I've never used) but consistently opens Windows Media Player here.
