adjusting video speed (using the tool) grrrr...

mark-perry wrote on 9/7/2021, 8:09 PM

i'm trying to re-adjust the video speed by (as i've done always) splitting the source and resampling by adjusting the audio but having awful luck using this wiggly tool

is there a better way to adjust this simply by typing in the value number, it used to be in MEP 17, i just cant stand the mouse or even touchpad method

thanks

Hi Mark,

No, you can't input a value. The setting is in BPM, for some reason, and can only be changed in whole beats. Use the tempo wheel. To increase/decrease in 1 beat increments, hold down shift and use the mouse wheel. There is a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 0.25times the original duration. I guess that after that, it is unintelligible.

Note that you don't need to do this if you don't want to adjust the pitch. Just use speed or the Stretch button for the video (ungrouped). If you want the video to be faster than 4 times or slower by 4 times, only then do you have to ungroup. However, you can't make the audio any faster or slower as far as I can tell.

Thought so, a really backward step as it's so irrationally floaty having to use the pitch and make sure you don't accidentally botch thetempo.

But now I just tried the hold-shift and moved the mouse to the right which increased it a point so in a sense it does work but you normally wouldn't know you were able to do this.

Hi Mark.

Not sure if this is relevant or not to your question as I'm not completely sure of your problem but using the speed adjust tool you can change the speed frame by frame by placing the mouse on the speed slider with a left click and then using the mouse scroll wheel. That is the way I have always done it.
