After Reinstall MTS Audio not working

Rollickps wrote on 1/7/2022, 1:01 AM

My previous MAGIX installations gone crash, so i decided to uninstall and reinstall it again.

On my previous installation MTS file can be inserted into the time line and the original audio play perfectly fine.

After i reinstall my MEP 2018, MTS file can still be opened, but the audio is gone.

I've tried to open MEP using administrator and yet still the audio is gone.

I can play the MTS file on my media player perfectly, its just on MEP 2018, the audio is gone.

There's no error message, it just played without sound.

Please kindly help. Thank you

Hi

. . . . After i reinstall my MEP 2018, MTS file can still be opened, but the audio is gone. . . .

Did you get a popup saying an expansion package needed to be downloaded, which you did, and still cannot get the audio?

If so and the source video audio is Dolby Surround Sound then this is a known issue.

The expansion package has been removed due to issues with licencing from Dolby and has affected older versions of MEP, and also many other video editors.

Your options are:

  1. Upgrade to Movie Edit Pro 2022

  2. Convert the video files to audio to AAC encoding using a video converter such as Handbrake.

Hi

Is the source video Surround Sound?

A mediaInfo analysis of one of the mts files may help - download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip to get the full data that you can post directly into a comment.

@johnebaker @Rollickps

I think John is correct because if you look at what audio selections you had when you right clicked the file it showed the options to extract the audio channels into stereo pairs which infers the audio is indeed some form of surround sound.

When you look at my image it does not have those selections available.

You could try separating the audio tracks and see which of them has audio. You may have to add additional tracks first.

@Rollickps You might find it easier to see what you do & don't have if you put Video & Audio on separate tracks,

Hi

Thanks for the MediaInfo analysis - not quite detailed enough, however it does show the audio is AC 3 Stereo (Dolby Digital) and this is why you are not getting the audio as I detailed above for Surround Sound.

The options you have are as I listed above - of the 2, conversion is the most economical, to avoid further issues if you do not want to upgarde the program is to set your camera to record AAC stereo.
