After upgrade, uninstall previous versions of Video Pro X

I've just recently bought the upgrade to Video Pro X9. I'll be upgrading from Video Pro X6.

After I've upgraded, I hope to be able to open/rework all my previous projects from Video Pro X6, and even a few versions of Movie Edit Pro, in VPX9.

I would like then to uninstall all the previous MEP and VPX programs as they take up a lot of space. Can I do that safely, without affecting VPX9 and the various plugins that come with it (because previous VPX versions had versions of those plugins too).

Thanks in advance,

Seamus

Hi Seamus.

I would like then to uninstall all the previous MEP and VPX programs as they take up a lot of space. Can I do that safely, without affecting VPX9 and the various plugins that come with it (because previous VPX versions had versions of those plugins too).

Note the section I have bolded. I think this may be more of a problem than you suggest.

In my experience, uninstalling any/all of your previous versions will also uninstall any plug-ins/add-ons that came with that specific version. IOW, although current VPX "includes" many of those plugs it does not automatically "install" them if it sees them as already installed, though it might, I guess, "update" them if needed. Your intended multi-version uninstall might very well lead to you having to reinstall quite a number of plug-ins, at least some of which may not be automatically available in the latest VPX. Again, in my experience, the only surefire method of ensuring that any existing plug-ins remain installed and, hopefully, available to later versions of the software, is to leave the original install untouched!

Hi Jeff. That’s what I suspected. Right, I’ll leave well enough alone, as they say. Thanks for the advice!
