AI Media Management in Video Deluxe 2026

bjtap wrote on 6/6/2025, 1:08 PM

Just some observations and thoughts on the AI Media Management:

1) Very slow, but that is to be expected since the program is 'looking at' each video file.

2) It breaks up the same scene (not file) into many parts. one example: I had a video of about 10 seconds of the same flowers. It was broken up into three different parts for some reason.

3) If you start the process and decide to stop it, what ever was done during that process is lost. I had at one time chose too many files to be processed and after a couple of hours or so, I decided to cancel. When doing so I was given the message what ever was processed would be lost... and it was.

4) Does not appear to be very accurate. For instance, I had videos of nothing but blowing pine tree branches and it found people. (There weren't any people). Found several examples if inaccurate findings. I do expect this but there seem to be too many.

5) I could not find a way to remove the files that were inaccurately placed. e.g. as talked about in number four. I tried to remove the video of pine tree branches from people category.

Would like to know what experiences others have had with the AI Media Management especially to find out if I was doing somethings wrong.

Thanks, Barry

Hi @bjtap,

You have asked a number of interesting questions which will be answered as people trial/purchase the software. I have yet to download the trial in fear it's installation may overwrite my MMS2024. I noticed in your previous post, you indicated that you owned MMS2025. Did installing VDL2026 overwrite MMS2025?

bjtap wrote on 6/7/2025, 2:15 PM

Can-Dive:

No, the 2026 did not overwrite my MMS2025.... but:

In the 2026 version I could not get the audio files (under the audio tab) that I had previously installed with the 2025 and I could not access the hub downloads either. Everything else seemed to be okay. My addon effects programs all seem to work including: Pixelan, New Blue, Boris, Prodad. (I do not know what would happen to Boris and Prodad if I uninstall the MMS2025 though).

When I select install extra content in 2026, a blank screen comes up. Based on what I see under effects, again, in 2026, it does not appear all of the extra content is installed. I do not know if this is a limit of the trial version and that if I purchase 2026 all the extra content can be installed and all the audio files and hub downloads will appear. The hub downloads were with MMS2025, and again, not sure if I would lose those hub downloads upon uninstalling MMS2025.

Hi

. . . . the 2026 did not overwrite my MMS2025 . . . .

Have you installed a different edition? It should replace MMS 2025 if you have the same edition.

. . . . I could not get the audio files (under the audio tab) that I had previously installed with the 2025 . . . .

When you installed VDL 2026 it has its own set of folders for these.

In my case the audio files are in:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Movie Studio Platinum Content\Slideshow music\

VDL's folder should be similar.

. . . . I could not access the hub downloads either . . . .

As above, mine are in:

C:\Users\John\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Studio 2025 Suite\MAGIX Content

You can copy the files from the MMS 2025 folders to the VDL 2026 folders.

. . . . it does not appear all of the extra content is installed. I do not know if this is a limit of the trial version . . . .

It is, the Extra Content will become available on purchase and activation to the full version.

John,

As usual thanks for more clarification.

Now I would like to update my original post. I noticed that some of the videos on Magix's U.S. site have added English translation. On point 2 above this has been cleared up by deselecting 'show videos in AI categories as takes'. (The video shows where to select this).

But there still remains the problem of so many misclassifications. I still have not found a way to remove or move, any of the misclassified videos. Hopefully there is a way that I just have not discovered yet. Also it would be fantastic if we could create our own AI categories and move clips into them!

Just to clarify, are you referring to the trial version? Are there more than one trial?
VDL comes in 3 flavours Plus, Premium and Ultimate while MMS was Platinum, Suite and Ultimate.

So what version is the trial(s) and how do you download the different versions if there are any?

bjtap wrote on 6/8/2025, 10:26 AM

As far as I know there is only one trial version of Video Deluxe 2026. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I've been testing Video Pro X17 Trial since last night.
And there are many positives about this version.
But where there's light, there's also shadow.

And these shadows tarnish the overall impression.

For me it is clear that Video DeLuxe is too limited.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. Yes the trial should only be one version as it is A: Limited, and B: The parts that are missing would be missing in all the trial versions such as additional third party effects track counts and any external online additional content.

VDL is too weak when it comes to color grading and, above all, processing 10-bit material.

"But where there is light, there is also shadow" is a German saying.

By light, I mean all the positive aspects.

By shadow, I mean the negative aspects that still remain.

Well, it costs 1/5 of VPX and Vegas. What do you expect? I'm a reasonably heavy user and I have rarely come across a colour problem that can't be corrected with MEP/MMS/VDL and I have never had any need to operate in 10 bit.

That's the whole point of "better" features in any program line, surely: offer various products so the user can choose one appropriate to their needs.

Hi Marc

. . . . and, above all, processing 10-bit material . . . .

I think you need to be more specific with this statement, MMS 2025, and I assume VDL 2026, handle some 10 bit video formats natively eg HEVC 4.2.0 10 bit.

However, 'Pro' video camera formats such as ProRes 10-bit 4:2:2 are not supported without the use of a 3rd party codec..

Thanks for providing detail on the 10 bit limitations of VDL, my own testing of MMS2024 confirmed that the program could read 10 bit HEVC but would only export 8 bit. As for VPX16, it could export 10 bit.

So if that is a requirement, then VPX is probably best for you. From your previous post, you indicated that you are testing VPX17 so you should not have an issue exporting 10 bit HEVC. You mention in your testing of VPX17 that "the shadows tarnish the overall impression." would you share the specific issue(s) you have found in VPX17?

Marc-Goder wrote on 6/9/2025, 10:45 AM

@Candive

1: 10-bit HDR export with GPU in HEVC: Still doesn't work.
The parameters for BT2020, HLG, or PQ are not adopted.
Export is only possible via software encoding.

2: You still have to pay extra for more than just the Intra codec. These costs also apply for importing XAVC-S (AVCHD) 10-bit 4:2:2.

3: HEIC images that contain errors still cause Magix VPX17 to crash completely. This doesn't happen during import, but directly when such an image is present in a file folder and the software attempts to create a preview image.
