Any News on NTSC Burning Issues with MEP 2015

jttar wrote on 1/4/2015, 8:46 AM

Any update on the burning to PAL issue. Been running MEP 2013 with no problems? I have read about the problem here in the forum and the last I saw was from member haasrd last September which had no resolve.

Installed MEP 2015 as my Christmas present. I have done all updates and still burning to PAL instead of the NTSC I need. The disk will play fine in a region free player I have but naturally not in my main players.

I have read the suggestions here and have made sure movie settings and program settings are all set to NTSC and not user defined or PAL. I have mirrored the settings from MEP 2013 (which burns NTSC without a hitch) but still only producing PAL disks. I have spent WAY too much time on this without having any success. I can alwys use 2013 but wasted my money and 2 days of time trying to troubleshoot on getting the greatest and the latest. LOL.

I appreciate any update on this issue even if it's just that Magix is aware of it any figuring out a solution.

Anyone think an un-install/re-install would change anything?

Running  Windows 7 with 8GB memory and Intel Core i7 processor

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi,

I don't have MEP 2015, but in 2014 the only possible cause I've been able to identify for this problem is the one I've outlined in previous posts (a bug IMO) and attempted to illustrate here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/MEP-BurnSettings-Adv.jpg

But it sounds like you've already ensured that's not the issue in your case. So I'd suggest you make a small, non-confidential project exhibiting the problem and use File > Backup > Copy project and media into folder, zip it up and upload it to a host site (I use Dropbox for instance) so that 2015 users can try to reproduce it.

Have you sent a ticketed support request to Magix?

Terry, thank you sir for your prompt reply. I did see your previous post that you illustrated in MEP 2014 but unfortunately that was not the problem. I have not yet sent a ticketed support request to Magix yet. I just did the digital download a couple of days ago and after spending a couple of days trying to troubleshoot the problem myself I brought it to the experts, (you, John, etc). If I cannot find an solution I will contact Magix support.

I did read here on the forum that MEP 2015 will not burn 720X480 (29.92fps) in NTSC, yet it is listed in the movie option. I use MEP for home movies and I do not have a HD camera so my movie resolution is 720X480 16:9. I don't know if what I read here is a fact but if that is the case, may be the excuse I was looking for to upgrade my nine year old camcorder (big smile here).

If and when I find a solution or confirmation that 720X480 NTSC is not supported in MEP 2015, I will, of course share anything I learn with this community.

Hi,

In that case let's assume you've hit the same issue first reported here:

http://www.magix.info/uk/magic-movie-editor-pro-2015-premium-will-not-burn.knowledge.1107033.html

I see that John EB formally reported it to Magix Support over 3 months ago. As mentioned, I don't have 2015 myself. But as far as I can tell there has been no fix yet and no communication about it by Magix.

I've emailed Magix Support and referred them to this thread.

Thank you so much Terry for going above and beyond. That was the thread that I read by John EB. I will keep check out this thread to see if Magix has any answers.

As stated, I can still use MEP 2013 in the meantime. My gracious thanks, again.

Hi,

I had a prompt reply from Magix. The bug is fixed and should be included in the next patch covering many issues. It's currently being tested "...and I trust it won't be long until the patch can now actually go online."

Thank you kind sir for all that you did for me and all the others here. My Grandkids movies await the patch. I will keep checking for updates and  will post back here and update this thread after the patch is applied and tested.

Happy to report I applied the latest update for MEP 2015 and now I can burn NTSC DVD's instead of them coming out in PAL format.  I do find that the default stil comes up as "user defined" and you must go in and select the format (PAL / NTSC} each time you use it.  I can live with that.

Again, thank you Terry.
