Audio Edit Wav Externally -- error 101 in Samplitude Pro X

I thought I'd save a couple steps and try the "Audio Edit Wav Externally" feature with VPX.

- 1st attempt: It Auto-Opened Samplitude Pro X4. It wanted to overwrite a prior file and didn't ask me any save location info.

I closed it and manually opened Samplitude Pro X4 to where I would want such a file to be saved. Tried the process again. No audio file showed up.

I deleted and re-added the .wav file to VPX on the timeline and selected Alt+Z again. This time, Samp PX4 gave me this error:

"Import for file type 101 is not possible!"

So, I changed the default .wav editor to Samplitude Pro X5.

I get the same "type 101" import error message in Samplitude Pro X5 on multiple attempts.

Does anyone know what this is about? Or have a solution?
