Audio Problem with Movie Edit Pro 2016

stiepan wrote on 11/29/2016, 12:32 PM

I am running Movie Edit Pro Plus (2016)  on a Windows 10 desktop with Intel i7 chipset.  The program is up to date.

I have been cutting many old family videos into one film.  I am having repeated issues with the audio in whatever new clip that I add from time to time.  If I play from the prior clip into the new one, the audio sounds fine.  However, if I stop in the last clip and then resume play, there is no longer any audio sounding!!!   It may finally rectify itself if I exit and reenter the program several times, but this is currently not working.  There is a real glitch with this program ... any suggestions other than reinstallation.

Hi,

What are the Audio Playback parameters under Program Settings, Playback? Wave driver or Direct sound? Output device? Audio buffers?

How much RAM do you have?

Are you putting the video and audio on the same track or separate tracks? I use separate tracks; they are grouped so they don't go out of sync, but I can see the audio track. You can set this in Program settings, Video/Audio, Timeline, and uncheck Video/Audio on one track. Under Import, make sure that Import video with sound is checked. I also have checked Automatically create waveform during import so that I can see it.

Next, make sure that you don't have anything else that is using your sound card at the same time. I presume that you are using the computer's sound card, correct? No music programs, no Outlook, etc.

I have 16 GB of RAM.  It's a powerful system.  I also import as you do, with separate audio track and wave form shown.

Again, the audio in the clip plays fine if I go back to the end of the prior clip and play it from there.  But once I stop and start again, the audio disappears.  I don't see how that can be anything but a glitch in the program itself.  Perhaps once you put so many clips into a project, the program breaks down.  Given the fact that I have already put many hours into this project, this is beyond frustrating.

And you're using the computer card for output?

What about the playback parameters? Have you tried changing drivers? Tried using Waver driver and increasing Buffer number and size? Here is what the manual says:

Note: If response and loading times are too slow, reduce the buffer size; otherwise increase the buffer size if the audio playback is choppy or if real-time errors occur. Since error-free playback is usually more important than fast reaction times, the buffer size should be raised to 16384 or 32768 to avoid drop-outs. The possible number of used buffer updates is between 2 and 10.

Do you have the latest patch? I have 15.0.0.102.

Can you try playing with the Demo project and see if you have the same problem?

Is the problem just with the one project?

I also have a problem with sound sync.  I have just captured a VHS to my computer and started a project with Movie Edit Pro MX.   All fine - until I came to cutting out unwanted parts.   When I came to the portion to remove, I used 'split' at both ends and then when it was isolated, I deleted.    It is at this stage that the sound goes out of sync.   It would seem that although the video has been deleted the sound has not.     Any suggestions would be very much appreciated as at the moment I have to complete with the 'bad' stuff included.

Hi

@ rwboud

Please do not hijack another users topic, your issue is different from the OP's - start a new topic and include more information as requested below.

. . . . I have just captured a VHS to my computer . . . .

What with and in which file format did you save the video file?

What is your computer specification and Windows version?

We need more specific information then that:

  1. sound card make/model/chipset ?

  2. sound card driver version ?

  3. was Windows 10 an upgrade from 7 or 8 ?

  4. has the issue just started - if so what changed on the computer?

  5. what format are the video clips ?

I did find a solution, which would not have been intuitive. As I remember, it involved right clicking on the file, and selecting one of the options that effectively caused the file to be reconstructed. Alas, I am 1,000 miles away from my computer at this time and cannot recall any more detail. Anyone experiencing the same problem and needing help should respond to this. But I won't be returning until 3/15/2017.
