hi all

used to own version 10 of this software and when saving a file which say typically would be between 7 and 12 minutes in length it normally saved within a minute. just upgraded to version 14 and i am almost an hr into saving a file. anybody know what the hell is going on? my pc is running just as it did before with version 10.

There are reports of Pro 14 slow encoding MP3s as well. The 32 bit version allegedly encodes much faster. though I am not sure if AS (Audio Studio) has the 32 bit install option.. If it does, install and use the 32 bit version. Both the 64 and 32 versions share many of the settings, data and coexists without issue. Installing the 32 bit version does not count as a second activation either.

Your other option is using a legacy version of SF or another encoder.
FWIW, I like WinLAME RC3, which has many more encode options than the SF/Franhofer MP3 encoder (including batch and script support).

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @gurinhs.

Good morning, Rick, thank you for always helping us.
Once LAME is downloaded, how do you tell Sound Forge to use LAME and not the SF encoder?

WinLAME is a separate UI (user interface) application. I am not aware of a way to use the LAME encoder directly in SF.

Render PCM <.wav> audio file(s) in Sound Forge and encode the subsequent end user MP3 files though WinLAME.

btw, Vegas encodes MP3 files very fast in my experience, so if your have that..

Alegedly, the LAME encoder can be used in Audacity, but would not have the advanced options of WL.
