Audio track produces no audio before the video ends

Hello gang, I'm hoping someone might be able to help here.

The last half dozen videos I've been editing using Movie Edit Pro Premium (fully up-to-date) have had the same problem while editing.

I import my video and audio track (two different sources) and align the two without trouble. I'm able to hear the audio play right to the end of the video like it should.

Then I start editing, making my cuts, etc. And somewhere along the way the audio won't play the last 45 seconds or so before the video ends. My work around is to split the audio where it cuts off, import the file again, and merge the ending, but this is frustrating and shouldn't need to be done.

Perhaps worth noting is that when I use the option "Enable smooth playback" with the "use proxy file" checked, the audio eventually starts to go offsync. Disabling the "use proxy file" corrects this. I'm not sure if this issue is related to the audio being cut off, but I thought I'd mention in just in case.

The wavelengths of both the audio in my video (which is muted) and the second audio track (which cuts off) are in perfect sync.

Quick update: I noticed that my preview and proxy rendering settings were on "Best performance for HD", so I changed it back to "Best performance for playback" and will test this setting moving forward. It already seemed to have fixed the sync issue on playback,so maybe it'll fix the audio cutting off problem.

This did not fix the audio cutting off... and it seems to be a consistent problem. Any time I try to trim or even shorten the end part of a video, it cuts the audio by at least 30 seconds. If I try to slide the end of the audio (to shorten it), it snaps to some other point and I can see where the audio would be cut off.

Please, any help would be appreciated. This is adding so many extra hours to my editing workflow.

This would suggest the audio is variable bit rate or the wrong sample rate for MEP which expects a sample rate of 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, the bit rate affects the audio quality.

What is the audio sample rate and bit rate settings - use MediaInfo to analyse the audio clip that is causing the issue and post the results back here.

Thanks for the reply. My audio is being imported at 44.1 kHz and the native audio in the video (which I remove) is 48 kHz. I haven't changed my workflow in over a year (or in the last several dozen videos I've produced), and never experienced this problem until I got the newest version Movie Edit Pro several months back (although it didn't happen immediately).

The wave forms of the audio track I import and the audio track in the original recording always line up, but it's simply muted when I try to trim/split the end parts of the video.
