. . . . when i import video it is out of sync with the audio. source material is fine . . . .
What is the source of the video?
Use MediaInfo to analyse a source video clip and in the Text view under the video section you see
Framerate mode:Variable
then the source video is the issue - many video editors including Movie Edit Pro expect Constant frame rate video and do not handle variable framerate video correctly.
To fix this the source video need converting to Constant framerate using a converter such as Handbrake.
thanx for the response. I did what you suggested, MediaInfo, and here are the results: General overall bit rate = variable. Video frame rate = 30.000 fps. Audio bit rate = variable. Audio frame rate = 43.066 fps (1024 spf). I'm guessing that the problem is because of the two different frame rates between audio and video...? can this be fixed? the files play fine in youtube. thanx. fe

Thanks for the MediaInfo analysis - there appear to be several parameters missing, and the number of channels and channel layout are, for want of a better word, peculiar.
The audio has a sample rate of 44.1 kHz, and if your project sample rate is set to 48 kHz this can cause audio to go out of sync.
What device was the video recorded with - if a camera, which make and model?
Has the video been modified, eg the audio track has been replaced, or processed through a converter such as Handbrake?
thank you for trying to help. i changed the sample rate to 44.1k and it didn't help. The file plays on my computer, my phone, my wife's computer, my daughter's computer and on youtube just fine but when when i load it into magix it's when it gets out of sync. i've done some relly cool stuff with movie edit pro but lately the frustration has outweighed the satisfaction. I think it's just time to move on from magix. I've wasted enough time with it.
Pretty sure it is the audio codec mp4a-40-2 that is causing the problem. Quite a few reports on Google about various applications balking at it. I think it is an FFMPEG codec. Converting to another audio codec in a converter would probably help.
It was recorded with a low budget video camera, about $100 on amazon. I will give you all the info I know about it. 4k Ultra HD Camcorder 2.4G wireless remote control. There is no make or model number. Even though it's low budget, it works with everything else I've tried. I have even downloaded trial versions of three other video programs and it works fine in those. The file has not been altered in any way. It's straight off the card, onto my computer and then into the program. I did find a work around. The first thing I tried was saving it on youtube. This worked. The audio and video were in sync however the video quality was terrible. So I loaded it into the video program that came on my computer and saved it as a new file. It seems to have done the trick.
