@Maria-Gullberg-McCadden

Welcome to the Magix forums.

In order to be able to help you we really do need a lot more information from you. Please read this post and give us ALL the details requested there about your computer and the exact version of MEP you have (to be found under Help>About).

Then please download and install the free MediaInfo, point it to one of your files which does play the audio and the one which does not and then copy and paste the results of the Text views of both files here. That should give us an indication of any differences between those files which might help us to help you to resolve the problem.

And this is the text analysis of the save project with the audio that does not work:

Thanks for the help!

@Maria-Gullberg-McCadden

Many thanks for the MediaInfo analysis of the raw video which does playback audio but we also need the same analysis for the one which does not! That way, we can check if there are any obvious differences between the two. Unfortunately, that text analysis of the saved project is exactly that; an analysis of the MEP project file, which is NOT what we need.

Also, the latest version of MEP Plus is 19.0.2.58 so, if your Update Service is still current you are at least two patches behind.

Hi Maria.

That second file you show is not a video file format. It is a MEP project file and is no use to upload to YouTube.

If you did indeed try to upload that file to YouTube.

It can only be used to load a project into MEP. It's like a librarian. Able to import all the clips you used or edited in the correct order and length ready for conversion into a video file with MEP, but that is it's only Function.

You would have to convert your work into a video file first. using the 'export project as' function and choosing a video file format.

Ray.

@CubeAce

Hi Ray.

I think you may have posted to the wrong thread! The OP is asking about why one audio file in three from her phone fails to playback its audio; I don't think she's asked anything about uploading to YouTube.

I'm not sure whether you can hide your own post (assuming its content is an error!)? If not, and you don't wish to derail the thread simply post back and I will hide both it and this post from me.

Hi Jeff.

I was referring to the last part of her statement.

And this is the text analysis of the save project with the audio that does not work:

To me it looked like that is what was posted to YouTube.

How do you interpret that?

If you want to delete my comments and think I'm off topic then please do.

Jeff & Ray,

Thanks for the help, guys! I ended up converting the longest clip to MP3 audio and laid that in under the clip in my editor. That cost me $8 on Cloud Convert, but it worked. I am trying to upload to YouTube now. I've got it ready to go, but now it won't upload. I'm beyond frustrated!

I've clicked on the "share" then "YouTube" as video. I've clicked on the export arrow in the far right upper corner. I'm prompted to sign into my Google account and then I'm stopped by another screen that says my browser is not supported. I've double checked all of their prompts and suggestions and nothing works. I've tried saving the video in a file on my computer and uploading to YouTube from my dashboard there. That crapped out. It's only 23 minutes long.

Ray, if I click on "export file as" what do I click on in that drop down menu?

I realize I'm new to all this and just another artist trying to create some helpful content, but why is this so darned hard?

Thanks for the help!

@Maria-Gullberg-McCadden

Hi

The issue is with the audio format, from the MediaInfo analysis you provided, the audio uses the Apple Lossless Audio Codec, which, AFAICS, Movie Edit Pro does not support.

I would suggest you invest in a video converter to convert the iPhone video to a more standard video file format changing the audio to AAC format, I, and several users here, use MovAvi video converter, others also use Handbrake (free). This will also remove other potential issues you may have with iPhone video.

I am surprised that you got sound from 2 of the 3 clips, do you have QuickTime installed?

What format and settings did you use for the export?

Youtubes recommended settings are here

This is helpful. I'm just a dumb artist! Who knows how I managed to get my other clips to play? LOL!

I may have QuickTime, but my brain just can't do one more techy thing today. I've spent three days immersed in editor-jail trying to do some things a bit beyond my skill-set. I'll check out the YouTube settings link and see what works.

Thanks so much!

@Maria-Gullberg-McCadden

Hi Maria.

I may be wrong here but the upload to YouTube etc, section of MEPis not so much broken as the sites changed what could be uploaded so doesn't function as well as it should.

Most of us here would not use that function of MEP. (I think).

When exporting to YouTube you could chose to convert your file to one of a few choices.

You can find those specs for YouTube here.

Just select which one you want convert your project to from the export drop-down menu at the top of the export dialogue box and select a similar specification of values your original files had for frame rate (Not variable frame rate but whatever you have converted it to) and frame size. You can let MEP choose the rest of the settings to begin with to see if you like the final results. Do tell MEP where to put the file and title it so you can then find it to upload manually to YouTube.

Don't feel dumb! 😉

Don't worry, we have all been there. It takes time to get to grips with any complex program.

I hope we get you up and running soon.

As an aside, you are not alone having these problems with Apple products. Some Android devices are also showing similar problems. This is the problem with having relatively newer tech. Sometimes it takes a while for third party vendors like Magix to incorporate the latest variations of the codecs these companies come out with.

Often the companies don't give out this information for some time after a product launch as they would prefer people to use their proprietary software and hardware exclusively.

Ray.

It's a beautiful morning, guys!!!

I was able to export and upload my video last night thanks to your help. Thank you!!!

I also found a YouTube tutorial that was super helpful. I'm a "show me and walk me through it" kinda learner, so the combination of everyone's input here and finding this video online helped push me over the finish line.

Below is the link to the tutorial on how to change the settings. It's a little old, but still relevant. I followed the settings he used in the tutorial to download my video onto my laptop. I then uploaded my video successfully onto my YouTube channel from the YouTube site. I also saved the settings for next time.

Again, thanks so much for the help!!!
