I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me the AVI uncompressed option in Movie Edit Pro. What’s it’s advantages & disadvantages and what’s the point of using it?
I have to say that in my opinion there are NO advantages to using AVI Uncompressed! (I'll wait for any howls of protest!!)
The single biggest disadvantage is file size; uncompressed avi creates HUGE files, so large that many (?most?) computers will struggle to play them smoothly because of the sheer quantity of data throughput which the computer must handle.
The above is my experience. I hope others with, perhaps, a less "jaundiced" view, will post. 😄
the only advantage to use uncompressed avi file is to keep the quality to a maximum. May e i use the same original file to create a logo and reopen and save many times if you use compression each time you save you loose quality.
I tried exporting an eleven-minute DH Mov. video to uncompressed AVI and it came to 47.9gig. Good quality athough the original files came to less than 1gig.

What do you intend to do with that uncompressed file now?
Bin it :-) I just wanted to see the result after your query peaked my curiosity. What else can I do with it? I suppose I could put it on a memory stick.
you can copy any file format on a USB memory chip the avi file system is the oldest video file. Today we use compressed video file to reduce size. For use with TV check compatibilty with your system read your user manual and check your system.
I only meant the last bit as tongue in cheek. A file that size is of little use to me other than to satisfy curiosity. The output is no better than the original so in effect useless but I was curious in case I was wrong.
