Best method to buy/install if buying AGAIN?! (explained in thread!)

Eaglezone wrote on 6/5/2017, 8:24 PM

So, I noticed there is a new offer available to buy MEP Premium... It's about £50 but comes with NewBlueEssentials 3 and 4, along with a style pack from Hitfilm.

Now, I already bought MEP a few months ago, so license still good for a decent while yet. Thing is, I would gladly pay £50 just to get the 3 plugin extras, but due to the fact I already have an active license, I don't know how to go about this?

I initially thought I would just go ahead and buy it, assuming I would receive the serials for the extras and could keep the serial for the main software to one side until my current one runs out. But, after having a think about how you install software for Magix, I'm not sure that would be possible would it? As you have to add the plugins from the main window (add extra content or download extra software etc) and the extra plugs in the current deal are not available to download from my version of MEP.

I tried NewBlue's app and website, but couldn't find any way to download the extras compatible with Magix. So, guess I have to pass on the deal unless I am willing to wipe out the remaining months on my current license? Not sure if there is something I am missing?

Any help/views/insight appreciated!

Hi

. . . . Now, I already bought MEP a few months ago . . . .

Which version - see under Help, About . . . for the full name of your program.

Do note that the £49.99 offer is what used to be called the Basic version.

You can compare it to the other versions in this comparison chart here.

I would suggest you contact sales at magix.com and see if you can just get the licence and serial number for the effects and buy direct from them.

If you have the Plus or Premium version, did you download and install all the extras?

Thanks for the response!

Checked under Help/About and my version is the Premium version. And yep, I have installed the NewBlue and all other extras for the program.

The current offer I talked about is for the latest edition of Premium, offer runs until July 3. It's £54 and comes with NewBlue 3/4 and Hitfilm style (which I didn't get with my Premium, hence why those plugins can't be downloaded from my version.)

So guess you may be right, that contacting Magix may be worth a try. Although would mean I'd be getting a few months less than I'm paying for! If you get me. As I would be paying for a new £54 Premium license now, so should receive at least 12 months from now. Whereas if I just get the serials and separate installers (somehow) I will still be running down my existing license, which is a few months in already.

Yes, it is all rather petty! Heh. Suppose it is just a quirk of the yearly licence model, as I obviously don't need to buy/install the program again just to get the new plugins, my version is running fine (and is the same!) but would have to reinstall based on how things currently are (assuming that would actually work?) Guess it is not the intention of the offer! I understand that, they want new people, but if it is possible to buy it outright for £54 (as a Summer offer) then no reason why an existing customer can't buy it too.

Thanks again for the input though, like I said, just wasn't sure if there was something I was missing?! Thought it may be something that had come up before etc.

Hi.

To echo what John wrote previously: you should contact http://sales@magix.com, explain the situation and ask if they will allow you to "add" these additional effects. They are likely to charge but I know it can be done.
