Black frames every 10 seconds or so in video .mp4 import

chadbresson wrote on 10/3/2020, 9:34 AM

When I import a video clip, whether I adjust the frame rate to the project rate or don't adjust to the project rate, I get black frames every 10 seconds or so in the video clip. These black frames do not exist in the original .mp4 file (I can play it in a movie player.. no black frames). How do I import the movie exactly as is?

Hi

This sounds like a result of the source videos in this issue you raised?

Are these the converted videos from that topic or the same source?

Different source. This time, I'm pulling in an .mp4 from Facebook (yes... don't ask... LOL), in order to edit. Source video is fine... but black frames show up when I import.

Looking at the media info... the file says the framerate is 30fps, but in the import MMEP insists and treats it as 29.97. Either the media info isn't correct or MMEP has a switch I've missed.

Is this another issue of "variable" needs to be 'fixed"? And how do I do that?

Thanks.

Hi

. . . . Is this another issue of "variable" needs to be 'fixed"? And how do I do that? . . .

The variable frame rate is the most likely cause of the black frames, converting with Handbrake to constant frame rate should fix this.
