Black Screen

Anthony-Girelli wrote on 9/24/2020, 3:45 PM

I've been using Magix Movie Edit Pro 2018 for years. After a recent Magix update, I am now unable to see videos in the preview screen, but the audio is fine. I reluctantly updated to 2021 thinking it would fix the problem, it did not. I've tried Deinstalling/Reinstalling, updating my video card drivers, and I've even tried on two different laptops; both used to work fine but now they both have the same problem. Please help.

Hi Anthony.

We are seeing a lot of this recently on this forum.

The new updates require newer hardware. Older nvidia cards and Intel GPUs are no longer supported.

In MEP go to File / Settings / Program / Import/Export and deactivate 'Hardware acceleration for playback if possible', and see if that works for now. If it works then read this thread.

https://www.magix.info/us/forum/no-preview-display-and-very-sluggish-after-latest-update--1254217/#ca1584699

See if it sounds like it applies to you.

If it doesn't then come back with your full computer specs for us to check out. Remember this is a user to user forum and we are not Magix support staff. We do our best to help out fellow users but sometimes we don't have solutions.

I'm sorry you are having this problem but the newer programs are built for newer components to keep up with the demands of newer cameras and resolutions.

Ray.

@CubeAce

Thanks for the feedback, I deactivated 'Hardware acceleration for playback if possible' and I'm now able to see the video in the preview window. Although now it appears that my audio is pretty far out of sync. I'll follow the other thread. Thanks again.

Hi Anthony.

Can you take a screen shot of this so I can see your audio settings?

You can upload the picture using the up arrow within the blue circle next to the smiley face at the top of each reply box.

Hi and welcome to the forum

What is the format of the video you are importing and what device was used to record it?

A MediaInfo analysis of a clip may also help, post the results from the Text view in MediaInfo.
