@Derrick-Sturge

Hi Derek and welcome to the user to user forums.

As you have given very little information on your computer setup or Windows build, or any information on the video clips that don't work I will resort to the game of twenty questions. 😉😇.

Can you view the offending clips as large icons using Windows explorer? (I am not interested in you using another program, just Windows Explorer.) IE, can you see thumbnails with an image representing the first frame of the clip?

If not you may have to download the HEVC playback codec for Windows from the Windows store.

But without more information as to how the clips were made and with what, I'm guessing and could be wrong.

Ray.

Hi Ray Thanks for the info. The clips are mp4. Most are 4k some 2.7k and some 1080. They were shot with Sony AX53, GOPRO 7 & 9 AND DJI Mavic air drone. I also have many older AVCHD clips that are acting the same way They all can be viewed and played in windows explorer without any problems. The clips vary in the program meaning if I drag a clip to the timeline and it's black screen I restart the program and that clip might be ok next time but it will happen to other clips. I'm running Windows 10 Pro, Intel (R) Core i7-7700 cpu @3.60 ghz , 8.00 GB Ram and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, Samsung 1 TB SSD. I have been using Magix since 2015 and have upgraded the software every year and upgraded my pc to what it is now and had no problems til Edit Pro Premium 2021 and the latest Video Pro X 13. Hope this will more helpful to finding a solution. Thanks Again, Derrick

Hi Derrick

Assuming this is not a laptop.

In the Windows Graphics settings, Graphics performance settings add Movie Edit Pro to the list as shown below - note the main program file is called videodeluxe.exe

Check in the Program settings, Display options tab, Video mode settings are set to

Standard mode (Direct 3D hardware acceleration)

and

Intel HD graphics

Do note that the GoPro video formats are known to cause issues and have to be converted to standard h.264.

If the computer is a laptop which make/model is it, and are the options above available to use?

Hi Derek.

Try running task manager and keep an eye on both the vram and motherboard ram usage. I think you may find the amount being loaded is quite high. It will not top out but may start to put what should be in memory onto disk. That is not ideal. an average 15 minute video project using at 4K clips normally uses up around this amount of memory for me. Sometimes much more, up to 29GBs but that is with a lot of titling.

and vram usage .

Although these shots are from MEP, VPX is not far behind.
