Blackmagic Output Preview not continuously updating in timeline scrub

Having Recently purchased VPX mainly for use with my Blackmagic Intensity pro to enable me to use the Full Screen Video Preview to a Full Size Television. I am noticing that the actual output is only shown and sent when actually playing the movie from either the preview or the timeline. It isn't working as I thought it would in that if I try scrub with the mouse in the timeline or in preview window it does update the output to the tv and you scrub it with left mouse held down and scrubing. It only changes to the current frame you are on once you stop scrubbing. Similarly it does the same behaviour when selecting a full screen preview using a 2nd display monitor on my graphics card GTX 750ti. Compared to Premiere Pro the Output to the Black magic TV out is available throughout so as you scrub you can look at the TV and use that as a monitor to locate your position. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this same behaviour that I am describing. I am not sure if there is a setting that can be changed to enable continuous update to BM Output. As say not sure if there is many using Blackmagic Output to a External monitor or TV in their workflow or if it is that popular. I did a search but couldn't find any posts discussing Black Magic Output. As say in Adobe Premiere Pro the option is available to enable output to both a 2nd Display and the Black magic Output at the same time and both will update at the same time as you scrub. Anyways I hope that there is a chance that I can get it to work like I am mentioning or if not can it be added in on a later build.

Hi.

Try running Task master at the same time as you use the program and look for any component that may be maxing out in bursts such as drives, CPU or GPU. That may give a clue as to what may be happening.

I did suggest to the author of a thread I saw re this (can't find it now, not on the forum home page?) that they announce the time in UTC/GMT as opposed to "DECT", I think it was! 😵

Ok yes very good I will try that. It might well be my system that is causing the lag in scrubbing as it is rather an old system and am looking to update it at some point soon. But for standard Definition it is working very good considering its age. It's a socket 775 on Q9650 CPU. As say I am not sure how the black magic output preview is supposed to work in VPX. As it seems that it only sends video out to the BM output TV when you press play it is though it is kinds of sending a stream to the BM Intensity Pro ti the TV. When I stop play back then click and drag in the timeline or in the upper left hand VPX small preview window and drag and hold left mouse button down. Only the last frame is shown on the black magic output TV screen where I previously stopped it. The VPX small window display works as it should and shows the updated video as I drag and scrub with the left mouse held down but on the black magic output looking at the tv nothing is showing only the sound can be heard scrubbing through the tv if I have selected to send the audio out to black magic output for audio. So as say it seems though VPX is not continuously sending each individual frame to the BM output driver. As say it might be my system is too slow to keep up but as say in premiere pro it works good as expected.it is just really weird as the moment I start to scrub the timeline or preview monitor nothing is showing and I have to end up switching my head to looking at the small preview window to see what is going on in the scrubbing. Only when I stop and release the mouse left button does it catch up and display the current stopped frame it is on in the bm output on the TV. I am hoping that this is not the way that it had been programmed in VPX as is ai then it kinda doesn't make sense to have a full screen output that only works on full streaming play back. I don't know if anyone else is able to confirm how it works anyone with a black magic intensity pro or 4k all use the same video out BM driver. I guess it might be useful to do a screen cap of it action to show what I mean if I can. As say the same behaviour happens when using no bm output just 2nd display monitor it does the same behaviour. So am wondering if that is how it is by design. Ad say In premiere pro you can have the output on both 2nd display monitor and BM output all st the same time and ad you scrub they all update in sync at the same time both in scrubbing and playback with no lag. So am thinking that it might be a programming thing that needs altering to allow better communication with VPX to the BM and display driver?

Hi. I have no idea about the Black magic card but I'm sure the minimum specs for running Premium Pro are less than for VPX.
