Ray, the info has helped. The programs seem to be similar. Not sure differences. I can't seem to find snap setting to easily join up clips. Is MEP more robust?

@Ted-Moores Hi, this magnet looking button is for snapping
In theory the two programs should be identical but just different names. At this point though I don't think any of us know for sure. That difference in the update version number is of slight concern to me but if they should be the same number, yours is only one update behind as the previous update number for MEP was your current version.
My personal opinion is that it was a bit of a rush job by Magix to produce an alternative for MS17 when the Vegas team announced to the parent company it was no longer going to produce new versions.
The first Magix Movie Studio allowed importing of Vegas projects but only the clips in the order they were placed on the timeline while Movie Edit Pro did not. That has now changed and MEP can now do the same but no more. Whether a full earlier Vegas Studio project will ever be able to be imported including cross fades and effects to my mind is doubtful as I can't even fully import older MEP projects if they use some of the older third party effects that were bundled at the time but are now either no longer available (Due to some licences being time limited) or compatible with the demands of newer operating systems.
What we do know is eventually the two programs will merge as one product and possibly the programs name will be Movie Studio. That could happen on the next new full release. Personally I do not think they will hang around trying to merge the two programs as it would be less work for the developers.
. . . . That difference in the update version number is of slight concern to me but if they should be the same number, . . . .
Not necessarily - Movie Studio was set to import .vf files right from the start with MMS 18, this has only recently been added to MEP 2022 in patch 21.0.1.111.
