Hi I have installed my Magix Edit Pro MX on a new laptop with a USB dvd burner but it will not regognise the DVD burner is there a setting somewhere that I have missed or does it not support USB DVD burners
Assuming your new laptop is running Windows 10, it is highly unlikely that a version as old as MEP MX will run successfully. (MX was version 11, I think, the latest release is version 20.)
MEP, at least in more modern versions, can see and use USB DVD burners. I suspect the fact that your installation does not is but one manifestation of the incompatibility between MEP MX and Win 10, sorry.
I would heartily endorse @CubeAce's suggestion; in fact I never burn a disc directly from the program but always use the "Image Recorder" option to create an .iso file, which I can then burn using other, dedicated, burning software. For me, the best "free" burning program is ImgBurn. Although it has not been updated in some time I find it ideal, especially for burning Dual-Layer discs, i.e., when creating exported videos larger than about 4.5 GB.
