buzzing sound in video audio

kriegerconradt wrote on 6/17/2020, 3:01 PM

I use a 2016 version of movie edit pro that works great but I just bought a GoPro Hero 7 and when I put the videos made from this new camera in Magix there is a loud buzzing sound in the audio. There is no buzzing sound in the videos when played out of Magix...it only happens when it goes into Magix. Any thoughts?

@kriegerconradt

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Can you download and install the free MediaInfo utility, point it to one of your GoPro files and post the results of the Text view here?

My suspicion is that this may be a codec issue; perhaps your new camera uses a codec that is not fully compatible with what is now, quite an "old" version of MEP.

Jeff thanks for the answer. I've just ordered the 2020 version on Amazon...hopefully that will solve my problem.

Hopefully, but a search with 'GoPro audio' delivers quite a few potentially relevant hits:

Thanks for the input terrypin. I researched "gopro audio" and most problems listed were about the video file's sound not playing at all on the person's computers. My gopro files play well on my computer but when loaded in Magix they become distorted with a buzzing sound. It may be a codec issue with my older version of Magix as Jeff stated above. I've been due for an update anyway.

Jeff of emmrecs...I tried downloading MediaInfo utility but winzip is wants to sell me a $30.00 subscription to do so. Is this the only way to get MediaInfo utility?

emmrecs wrote on 6/18/2020, 1:12 PM

@kriegerconradt

Whatever you do don't pay anything for MediaInfo, it's free! Here is the download page.

Jeff I tried that link but it still wants me to pay 30 bucks for win zip update drivers. I actually have another question for you concerning the new version of Magix 2020 I have ordered today. Before I install the new version do I have to delete the old version? If I did that would I loose 4 years of my magix movie files. Thanks again.

Hi,

So long as you didn't save any of your files to any of the System folders, which normally one wouldn't, you should be ok. I suggest that you keep the old version for now. It's the last version that doesn't get automatically replaced by a new version. I still have it on my computers.

In any event, you should always have your files, documents, source files (video, photos, audio) backed up somewhere on another drive or other media. If you don't, do so. You never know when a disk drive will fail. Don't ask me how I know.

Hi

You have downloaded the version without installer.

Click the link @emmrecs gave you and on that web page download the program using the big blue button on that page - do not go to the Products page which is the only place you can download the non-installer version requiring Winzip or 7-Zip.
