Can I upgrade my Movie Edit Pro Plus 2015?

MORTradio wrote on 12/7/2014, 4:02 PM

Recently, I purchased the Movie Edit Pro Plus 2015 software, and so far I have been happy with it.  I am now considering buying the Movie Edit Pro Premium 2015.

Do I have to buy a whole new software program, or can I just upgrade from Pro Plus 2015 to Pro Premium 2015 (obviously hoping at a greatly reduced cost)?

If it matters at all, I am running Windows 7 here.

Hi

If you approach Magix sales they might offer to charge you just the difference between Premium and Plus.

The Magix part ie. Movie Edit Pro has identical features in the Plus and Premium. It is just the add on programs (Plugins) from Red Giant that are bundled with Premium.

Thanks for the quick response.  I reviewed both software programs, and of course noticed exactly what you have stated.  I guess my next question would be about plugins.

Where does one go to obtain plugins for Pro Plus 2015?  The one that really interests me is the Red Giant Retrograde.  Are there other plugins from other makers as well?

Again, thanks for responding.

Hi

There are plugins for Magix from Red Giant, New Blue FX, Magic Bullet and Prodad. Most of them are sold as standalone programs and/or Plugins for the popular NLE's. Just checkout their respective websites for plugins. They are however quite expensive so it may be cheaper to buy a Magix program that has them bundled.

My favorites are Prodad Mercalli V2.1 Stabiliser and Vitascene V2, and New Blue Video Essentials.

Virtual Dub filters can be installed in the plugins folder in MEP and are free.

Have you checked out the Film Looks in the MEP 2014/2015 Effects>Presets>Film Looks folder? There are a few older film looks in there.

Also take a look at Pixelan. Better and less expensive than competitors.

Thanks for the reference.  I see that they have a plugin called "Film Touch Pro" which seems to be a good one, as well as other plugins that are interesting.  Thanks!  You've been helpful.

See my tutorials on Pixelan SmartBlur Pro. SpiceMaster is a good one and I will be doing a tutorial on its masking capabilities in a couple of weeks.
