Can not export!

Carl-Schillander wrote on 11/11/2021, 2:30 AM

Hi

I still have more and frustrating problems. I just dont get it. Because rendering/exporting videos differ from day to day. At one time I can export in mpeg 4. Next moment I get messages as enclosed pictures. Why?

Then I try to export to windows media. That usually works ok. Until now! I have made a number of clips that refuse mpeg4. Did them in WMV. Ok it was fast. Then I am doing a 3rd one. And it takes forever! Still after 4 hours is not ready! It is absolutely snail pace and EVERYTHING else in the computer is shut down! This is crazy! All these problems started with the latest update. Where also the fixing the audio had some serious problems. Such as the picture disappearing.

What can I do? Can not work like this! I must trust my tools!

Why is it slower than slow? Blaming my computer is not correct. Since the clip of exactly same style and length went through earlier in fast pace!

Need your help..

Regards

Carl

Hi Carl.

It's time to stop using your nvidia card for hardware acceleration I'm afraid.

Using any video editor relies on three things. The application, the operating system, and the graphics card drivers where applicable.

Any imbalance between those three things can produce problems. All three must be written to support each other.

Nvidia has stopped supporting drivers for your cards architecture and Windows has had several updates since then to their operating system. Although the core program of MEP may well run within the specs page requirements at certain resolutions or with less demanding codecs of the files in use within the project it is possible some of the free third party plugins supplied may not be able to function fully or may work at a reduced performance level.

Starting from October 4th 2021, only Nvidia's Maxwell, Pascal, Turing and Ampere families of desktop graphics cards will continue getting Game Ready driver support,

Here's a full list of the affected Nvidia Kepler GPUs:

Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan Z

Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan Black

Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan

Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti

Nvidia GeForce GTX 780

Nvidia GeForce GTX 770

Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 Ti

Nvidia GeForce GTX 760

Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 (192-bit)

Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 Ti OEM

Nvidia GeForce GT 740

Nvidia GeForce GT 730

Nvidia GeForce GT 720

Nvidia GeForce GT 710

Nvidia GeForce GTX 690

Nvidia GeForce GTX 680

Nvidia GeForce GTX 670

Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Nvidia GeForce GTX 660

Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost

Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti

Nvidia GeForce GTX 650

Nvidia GeForce GTX 645

Nvidia GeForce GT 640

Nvidia GeForce GT 635

There have been several driver updates since then as well as Windows updates.

Sometimes an export may work depending on the effects applied but the harder the card has to work the more chance of it 'tripping out' during the export or failing to start.

Ray.

Hi

. . . . Why is it slower than slow? Blaming my computer is not correct. . . . .

From what you posted above indicates you have a GTX470 GPU. The GTX 470 does not support Hardware Acceleration as it does not support NVENC, the replacement encoding method for CUDA which was dropped by Nvidia 7 years ago, and is used by MEP.

What is your full computer specification as I previously requested.

Without the rest of the computer specification to be clear on what the PC hardware is, we can only generalise.

Unless you have an Intel processor with a supported integrated GPU, the export is being done by the processor alone, the time taken will be extended several fold compared to when hardware acceleration is available and vary greatly depending on what is on the timeline and effects etc applied to the video/images.

The export aborting is usually due to something on the timeline that is causing an issue and is tripping up the system.

. . . . Did them in WMV. Ok it was fast . . . .

Assuming you mean exported as WMV then this format is a simpler encoding method the h.264 (MP4) and is not hardware accelerated.

Greetings @Carl-Schillander

As well as the probable reason given by Ray and John for your problem, if you don't have an Intel GPU enabled chip you are possibly overheating your CPU on occasion.

I don't have an Intel GPU but I do have a blisteringly fast Nvidia card which normally exports MP4 and HEVC while reaching reaching a maximum of around 72 degrees C. If I use certain 3rd party effects, and MEP is full of them, the encoding is still fast but the CPU temperature has on occasion reached 98 degrees which is my CPUs Tj Max and the point where my system slows to a snails pace. Needless to say I keep a watchful eye on that if I've used any of the ProDADs for instance as new CPU equals a new motherboard which equals new memory which equals my wife asking what I need a new computer for and all the subsequent aggro that involves.

I've tried using WMVs on occasion but it's painfully slow in comparison to MP4 or HEVC with my RTX2060.

MEP lives quite happily on my PC without an Intel GPU, I just have to be wary of too many complex effects. I suggest an investment in a new video card if a new system is out of the question.

Sorry but it's the best I can suggest.
