Can't add a keyframe to 'direction of view' for 360 animation

ben-sagle wrote on 9/21/2017, 4:24 PM

Hello.. 1st post here. First time using the software too (Movie Edit Pro Plus)

All I want to do is take a 360 spherical photo and make it rotate in a video. I've been following a tutorial.

I'm asked to add a keyframe to the 'direction of view horizontal'. While this option is available in the tutorial, the 'set keyframe' button is grayed out for me and I can't click it. I can't figure out why. The program freezes every time I try to use the F1 help.

Help!

Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Movie Edit Pro full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

  4. Which tutorial did you follow?

  5. An example of the 360 deg photo would help.

Please give details of the step by step process you are using to edit the 360 deg photo.

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

OK:

ASUS N501VW Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz; 16 GB RAM; 64-bit OS Windows 10

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

I don't know my hard drive config; It's an SSD 476 GB that's 75% used

Windows version 1703

Movie Edit Pro Plus - version 17.0.1.130 (UDP3)

the part I'm having difficulty with is at 3:07... I can't click on the 'add keyframe'

I'm using this photo as a test subject.

I read the pdf manual and searched the forums. I can't use Help because the program crashes.

Thanks!

Hi

. . . . the 'set keyframe' button is grayed out for me and I can't click it. . . . .

I can replicate this issue on one of my computers.

I have tried this on my PC and laptop which, to all intents and purposes are identical specs, ie same processor, gpu, MEP version etc, with one exception - the Windows 10 version:-

On the computer which is still on Windows 10 1607, I can add keyframes to the 360 deg view and it plays/exports correctly.

On the computer with Windows 10 1703 (upgraded from 1607) the keyframe button will not activate when selecting any of the direction options and therefore keyframes cannot be added - also I cannot find any way round this.

Testing with Video Pro X on the Windows 10 1703 computer, the 360 deg keyframe animation works correctly.

We need someone else to see if they can replicate this issue.

I can only confirm a couple of points:
1. It's a nice feature that I don't have in MEPP 2016 (my current preferred version).
2. As John said, it works OK in MEPP 2017 version 16.0.4.119 (UDP3)

But, even if I was ready to switch my main usage to 2017, I'm not updating it to 1703 given the various issues I've read about here recently.

P.S: Nice tutorial; wish all were so clear. But it doesn't seem necessary to go to the Speed setting to change speed, just drag duration as shown.

Hi. I believe the reason you can't add a keyframe is that you first have to highlight the parameter for which you want to create a keyframe. I have a video tutorial where I use the other part of 360 video editing (position object in 360 space) but the steps are almost identical to your objective of using "select section of panorama". See starting 05:40 of this video:

So IOW, select the parameter(s) first such as direction of view horizontal, then you'll be able to click on the add keyframe button.

Best regards,

Hi,

I just got Movie Edit Pro Premium V 17.0.3.184 on Win10 v1803 and have the same issue of not being able to access the keyframe when using "360 Panorama" effect.

I got Movie Edit because I thought I could also do the same thing in the tutorial where with a 360 image i can create a rotate video on it.

I did find a workaround to enable the "add keyframe" button. First I added the "360 Panorama" effect, and then added another effect that enabled the keyframe like the "360 Scene rotation" effect.

Then i selected the "Direction of View Horizontal" of the 360 Panorama effect. The add keyframe was still enabled so i was able to add a keyframe.

I also tested using a different effect instead of the 360 Scene Rotation to enable the Add keyframe. I used "Brightness/Contrast" and got the same workaround result.

After adding the 360 Panorama keyframes i removed/deleted the "360 Scene Rotation".

Hope this workaround helps even if it's almost a year old post.
