Can´t open Spice Master Pro with MEP 2017

joserobles1941 wrote on 6/14/2017, 9:27 PM

I have just installed MEP 2017 premium but there is no way I can open spice master Pro. The new templates layout is totally dedicated to Magix with only images, no text. I am in the process of getting familiar with this new version ( I have the 2015 Premium version) and when I first began to explore it I did find the spicemaster icon and was able to drag it to the timeline but now it has just disappeared. Fades as before is gone - it is included within templates. Please help me find a solution.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Want to add a couple of things to clarify my post. I meant the spicemaster icon is no longer visible. Also, I still have the MEP 2015 version and the icon is there as well as Pixelan Creativease. This last one is present in MEP2017 under Effects.

Hi José,

I see that no one has replied yet. I don't have MEP2017 and VPX has not yet been changed to a similar interface so I can't help much.

  1. For CreativeEase, it is a series of a bunch of applications. Do you see them all?
  2. Did you look under the Templates tab for SpiceMaster? I believe that is where the transitions are now located.

John

Hi John,

1. Yes, I can see them under the effects tab, it is a list ( text)

2. Yes, I went all over it again with no result.

I guess the problem might be that now images are used for each application and their format is different from the ones used before. Just a guess.

I did write directly to SpiceMaster about this issue and was told they are having same request from different customers. So they will have this resolved ASAP and let me know.

Allow me to make a comment though a different topic. I just love your tutorials. I have screenedshot several of them. I do have a suggestion, if you let me please. Even though I am familiar with what you are exposing, it is very hard to remember each step , also their sequence. It would be just great if you could add, at the end, a list for us to follow. Maybe I am asking for too much.

Thanks for your answer , much appreciated.

Hi José,

Thank you for the information. I am happy to know that Pixelan is on the case.

Thank you for the compliment about my tutorials. You are quite right with your comment. I have started putting in a summary of steps, but it is not enough. In the future, I will try to do 3 things better: 1. Keep the tutorials shorter; 2. Include summarized steps at the end and a pdf file for the Magix forum under tutorials; 3. Improve the sound ( I hope that the sound on my recent tutorials is better than for the older ones).

Please let us know if and when Pixelan comes up with a solution. And, thank you for your feedback about my tutorials.

Although I note this initial posting was some two months ago, I have just come across the same problem with Spicemaster and so thought would add a further comment.

Pixelan have just advised me ....  "Sorry for the problem. Unfortunately we not have a way to help, because this is a Magix Movie Edit Pro problem. The new Movie Edit Pro layout (with Templates tab) is released a bit uncompleted and not have proper plugin support for transitions. We contacted Magix and they are working on a solution to display transitions in the new "Templates" tab. We hope to see the solution implemented in the next Movie Edit Pro 2017 update.".

I will now also send an enquiry to Magix Support.

@Xenofex2

Thanks for the update on this and for the message sent to Magix support.

I confess to not having read this thread properly before 😢 so was unaware of this problem, which, as John CB pointed out, does not affect VPX but most definitely does affect MEP. Not good!!

Just a further update. I have just been advised by Magix that ...

"We have been facing issues with the plugins interface that supports spicemaster and other third party plugins and we will be able to provide a solution with our next major program update."

Await to see now when the next major update will be.

Hi George,

Thanks for the update. It seems that the same applies to VPX except for Pixelan plugins. I assume that this is because VPX has not had the same overhaul in the Media Pool as MEP. I hope they get it all sorted out soon.

Long time issue this one... And a major update has just come and gone, but as far as I can tell... still not possible to use Spicemaster in MEP. Assume it is the same for any other 3rd party transition plugins as well? (ProDad etc.) So, a very significant limitation.

browj2 wrote on 9/17/2017, 11:50 PM

@Eaglezone

I just managed to get the trial MEP2018+ going with a huge 2 day trial.

Plugins work with the exception of the Pixelan transitions. I tried adding some Pixelan transitions using VPX and then opening with MEP2018+. They worked, but clicking on the settings would not open the Pixelan interface. I was hoping to cheat the system but it didn't work.

The Pixelan effects show up and work. Here is what I have that works:

  • NB titler
  • NB effects - except for the OFX version which turns the image black, and NB OFX Drop Shadow which can cause a crash or the selections under the Effects tab to disappear - may as well be a crash
  • Neat Video v4
  • proDAD Adorage
  • Red Giant: Chromatic Glow, Knoll Light Factory EZ, RetroGrade
  • HitFilm Toolkit Pack - OFX
  • Pixelan effects: BlurPro, ChromaWarp2 etc., Filmtouch 2 Pro, BlurBender Pro, Smart Blur Pro, Smart Sharpen Pro

Here is what does not work:

  • proDAD Mercalli V4
  • proDAD CMOS Fixr

I can't say for NB Looks as I don't think that I have it installed on my desktop computer, only on my laptop.

That is interesting. I tried cheating the system myself, by copying the Spicemaster icon from my old VPX's "additional fades" (by dragging it out to the desktop- which is a vxx file) then using that in MEP. And it does work for adding the fade to project, but as you say, is no good because if you select "settings" then nothing happens, so can't make adjustments or choose a particular preset etc.

Assumed it was limited due to Magix's new way of dealing with transitions within MEP (so totally up to Magix to fix) but you say Adorage will work if you select "settings" then? The dialog opens? That is weird. And a shame, as it means I would have fixed my problem if I was trying to use Adorage transitions... Can use the vxx file just like the old icon, so if people have other 3rd party transitions, then they can try fixing the issue themselves with that method... but is no good for Pixelan Spicemaster.

Of course, not every MEP user will have VPX to take spare parts from! Although guess it's possible to load the trial, but obviously shouldn't be necessary in the first place. Standard functionality of transitions is not a special feature(!) Hopefully the issue is resolved in the next update.

The Adorage transitions are, and were before, under Effects, not Fades, so the Adorage icon shows up. Clicking on it opens the Adorage interface as usual.

The Pixelan transitions showed up under Fades, not Effects, so Magix still has to do something to get them to show up. As you found, you can drag the SpiceMaster.vxx to the timeline, the default spice works, but you cannot open the interface.

As a few months back I had contacted Magix regarding Spicemaster and had been advised that a solution was to be provided with the next update, I thought I would at least make them aware that it appears it is still not working.

I have now been advised 'Unfortunately the relevant feature/interface has not been included in our latest update. I'm afraid i am not in the position which exact software update patch will include this feature however this is gonna be happening soon'.

So still, a watch this space.

Interestingly, I still have MEP 2016 installed and checked it out again and Spicemaster is  accessible in that Program via FADES>ADDITIONAL FADES.

Still watching this space! Heh.

Another update and still no fix for this. So will be many weeks again before any possibility of having this sorted out. Any longer and Pixelan are going to have to just give in and change the info on their website. They are (unintentionally) offering a product under false pretences right now. They say their transitions are compatible with MEP, but they aren't. Anyone buying the Magix bundle of their plugins won't be getting what they pay for.

Again, not blaming Pixelan, as Magix clearly broke the compatibility with the style makeover featuring the store etc. Which in itself could just be an honest mistake, but they are aware of this issue and aren't fixing it despite several updates and having time to add other new things etc.

browj2 wrote on 9/29/2017, 8:11 AM

@Eaglezone

I think that they need a few reminders. You, George and José should remind them. I haven't paid for MEP2018 yet, so I don't qualify.

Yes I would but am having problems at the moment with Vasca da Gama that looks like I might have to contact Magix Customer Support for their help.

I could though, although no doubt they are aware anyway, re-contact Pixelan.

Just to make sure this thread doesn't end without the deserved conclusion... THE LATEST UPDATE HAS FIXED THIS ISSUE!! GOD BLESS MAGIX!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!! (But mainly God bless Magix.)

Xenofex2 wrote on 10/30/2017, 3:08 PM

I've had a problem with Vasca da Gama which, despite help from Customer Support over the past 2 - 3 weeks and uninstalling MEP & Motion Studios twice, I no longer have Vasca da Gama. Seems as if I have a configuration issue somewhere.

Anyway back to this thread and Pixelan Spicemaster, in the last 24 hours I have it seems been updating and updating MEP. My current version has finally arrived at 17.0.1.141 but I cannot find Spicemaster  I am looking in Effects>Plug-Ins.

So just checking please, is this where it should show?
