@Todd-Crandell

Welcome to the Magix users forums.

The first "port of call" for support is almost always these forums, where users assist each other where they are able to do so.

First, in order to try and help you can you give the full name of that .exe file you have downloaded? If its name includes the letters "dlm" that is an indication that you have the Magix Download Manager for VdL 2026. Its purpose is to initiate the download from the Magix servers of the program installation files, and then to begin the actual installation.

As such, it must have access to the Magix Servers. Unfortunately, it is quite likely that you Antivirus/Firewall is blocking such access and hence the installation is failing to run or complete. Even the standard Windows Defender can present problems in this area.

So, your first step must be to ensure that your AV/Firewall is allowing connection to and from the Magix servers.

Once that permission is confirmed, try running the .exe file again.

Does this help?

Perfect. Thanks. That worked for me. It was a dlm file and I took the advice in your message.

I have two (+1 follow-on) questions:

1. Is the Video Deluxe Premium 2026 Project-file format compatible with Movie Studio Ultimate 2024?

2. If I purchase a 'new' license for Video Deluxe Premium 2026, will I be able to continue using Movie Studio Ultimate 2024 and Video Deluxe Premium 2026 on the same computer? (assuming all the add-ons as well)...

(2a.) are the add-ons in Video Deluxe Premium the same as the addons in Movie Studio Ultimate 2024?

Thank-you for your help!

Hi

Video deluxe is the new name for Movie Studio 2018 and later versions which was formerly known as Movie Edit Pro.

The project file formats are compatible, with the caveat that any 3rd party software, addons, or older effects, used may not be recognised, if from the 2024 version, the addons etc should be OK.

VDL 2026 will replace MMS 2024 in situ, there is no need to uninstall anything such as 3 rd party effects which, providing they are compatible, should be transferred across.

These are the 3rd party software addons that I have and were transferred

  • NeatVideo
  • NewBlue effects
  • Boris FX

If in doubt, I would advise using a program such as Macrium Reflect to create an image of your C: drive to another hard drive, internal or external, before upgrading. I use this software for regular backups of both my PC and laptop.

Hi,

To answer your 2a, Premium comes with one add-on, Ultimate comes with the same add-on and a bunch more. The Magix website shows what comes with each.

There is only 1 version of the program itself, Video Deluxe.
