Cannot view video in preview monitor but can hear sound only

senseidye wrote on 3/28/2021, 1:00 PM

I just downloaded Movie Edit Premium Pro 21 using my PC. When I drag an mp4 video to the time line it shows it on the time line and when I hit the play button I do not see the video in the preview screen but clearly hear sound. Not an issue from previous downloads. I am using a PC with windows 7 and have never had this problem in the past

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

Movie Edit Pro 2021 is not Win 7 compatible and may need additional upgrading of components.

Did you you look at the minimum requirements pages for running MEP 2021?

You may be able to get it to work if you change your project video settings to run in Windows compatibility mode but it's doubtful.

Ok so it works in Windows 8 or higher. The other versions work lower versions of Windows. Costly lesson learned by me so I will be converting to another form of editing software after being a loyal user of this product since 2015 using Windows 7. I guess this is a sign of the times. Good Bye Old Friend!

Hi

. . . .  I will be converting to another form of editing software after being a loyal user of this product since 2015 using Windows 7. . . . .

Windows 7 was ' end of life' in January 2020, Microsoft and software developers are no longer supporting it and in 2023 they will not be supporting Windows 8 when it becomes 'end of life'.

The issue of compatibility is not just related to MEP 2021 - all software that use to run on Windows 7 may be affected. Additionally if your computer is more than 4 - 5 years old there are likely to be hardware incompatibility issues as more modern video editing software depends on features available in modern hardware.
