CC control of VST within Samplitude Pro X7

Have a VST effect (Helix Native) that can have external MIDI control of various parameters. Considering using an older BCF2000 for the control of variable parameters (ex. frequency bands of EQ). Started using this off the bat and I can get MIDI easily input into Samplitude using a couple different control templates. But for this need raw CC data so (if anyone is aware) using BCF mode where you can edit the CC for any control (fader or rotary).

Issue is getting this VST to even accept the MIDI input.

Frustrated with this, have Reaper as a backup DAW and no issue with having this control. Method is to create audio track with VST effect, then a 2nd MIDI track with MIDI controller INPUT, and OUTPUT ('Send' in Reaper) to the audio track. Enable recording on tracks and voila . . . . real time control.

But I can't produce the same scenario in Samplitude. Tried it direct at first with both an audio and VSTi track; no dice. Then tried the dual track method used in Reaper, but challenged in how to get my MIDI track OUTPUT to that audio track. I managed to do it a couple times, but no control, and the other times the same OUTPUT option of the audio track didn't show up in SAmplitude.

Hope I've explained this well enough. Appreciate any/all input on this. Thanks in advance.

@terra3 Inside the VST-Plugin menu enable Hardware Controller Easy Learn mode. Click on a control you want to influence with your MIDI device, then move a knob or fader on your device. Both are now coupled. Disable Easy Learn mode again.

Yeah, I tried that earlier on with that particular VST plug-in but it doesn't work. That plug-in actually has two methods of 'easy learn' and neither I could get to work within Samplitude.

Of note is I didn't have to resort to that with Reaper to get the plug-in to work. Come to think of it, I didn't even try that in it just out of interest's sake.

I have a sense I'm missing something fundamental to Samplitude that could mirror what I did with the routing of the MIDI output from that one channel into the audio track.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Please provide screenshots.

I'm talking about this here:

Yes, that is what I'm talking about. The VST effect has that.

It also has this:

. . . . . and neither method works for me in Samplitude.

Its odd. Easy Learn works fine with other VST plug-ins.

@terra3 It could be that this plugin has some kind of non-standard VST interface (Waves plugins also do this for some reason) were it doesn't work in any DAW but only in a handful the developers tested. You may ask Line6 support if Samplitude is supported.

Additionally, in case there is an option "Receive MIDI" inside the Plug-In Menu, try to toggle it on. Maybe it is necessary for it to work.

Yes, that plug-in does have that Receive MIDI option and I tried that as well. Lost track of everything I've been trying. Have a query floating about in Line6's world. There are LIne6 discussions of difficulties with MIDI control of that Native app at times; some folks having to switch controllers without even an understanding of why, but the new controllers work.

I'm going to keep trying/researching this and see if some unique method exists for pulling this off.

Thanks
