Chapter markers and chapter when burning a DVD

art-l wrote on 8/7/2022, 8:21 PM

I have placed to chapter markers in the this video I'm making and named them "Photos" and "Announcements." [see Screenshot 47]. It's my understanding that when I press the disc in the upper RH corner to burn a DVD, the chapters should show up in the left hand "Navigation" panel. As you can see in Screenshot 48, they are not. What is the issue? Using MOVIE STUDIO 2022 PLATINUM Version 21.0.0.138, Win11

Definitely something odd about that. I just tried with my MEP 2022 21.0.2.138 (note the version's a bit different to yours; 138 is the latest patch number but I have a 2 in front) and I can get the chapter markers showing in the DVD menu.

Check you have the latest version: Help>Update on line.

As a quick check, try doing a new project with just a single video on the timeline, then put in 2 chapter markers and see if they appear in the DVD menu.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Another thing you can try: use another DVD menu template.

I'm running the same version as Al and can reproduce this problem. However, by changing the "name" of the project (from the "default" [in your case 04-30-2022]) to anything else (I chose "Test") the Chapter names appeared. I'm also using that same default menu.

Can you see whether making that name change works for you?

AAProds - What I sent was just a simple video, all pictures where I tried what you suggested and that's what I got.

emmrecs - I created a new video and changed the name from the default name and that seemed to work. It also solved the other issue I was having, linking a chapter to a button.

Thanks to both of you.
