Clips "sticking together" (not grouped)

Movie Edit Pro Plus - v. 16.0.1.22 UDP3
Windows 10 x64

I've been experiencing an extremely irritating behavior from my MEP-Plus. I'm not sure when it started, I just hadn't noticed it before the last couple of months.
It involves unrequested "sticking together" of imported or cut and pasted clips.
For instance, I start a new project and drag and drop a clip from the "import" window. I then drag and drop another clip next to it on the right from the import window, At this point the problem manifests itself. Although I can select the SECOND clip I just imported to place it somewhere else, I cannot select only the FIRST clip in order to move it, it always takes the second clip with it.

I've experimented now and the problem seems to be dictated by whichever clip is nearer the left. Anything imported to the right of it is "glued" to it. Even if there is a space between the two clips, they always move together.

I will say this again here to make it clear: the items are NOT GROUPED.

Have I unwittingly pressed a "magnet" button somewhere? This is making it very hard to work, most especially with titles or captions.

Thank you.

Hi.

You need to change your setting of the "Mouse Mode". See the picture below, with the three important buttons highlighted and labelled. In order to move only one object you need the first option to be highlighted.

I suspect your current setting is "Single Track" rather than "Single Object".

😀Yup! That was it. I've used Magix for years (I think my first was Video de Luxe in 2011(?), but I never knew what those selections were for and never seemed to need them. Thank you, thank you!
