Compatible hardware/capture devices

Recently had to get a new computer, went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (Dell XPS 8930 desktop). I installed my old Movie Edit Pro MX Plus version 18, then did an online update to version 11.0.6.4, but the SIIG USB 2.0 Video Capture Device that I was using before keeps returning a "currently not supported" error message when I try to record video from a VCR. Not sure if it's a compatibility issue with the SIIG and Win10 (I did try downloading Win10 drivers from the SIIG website to no avail) or something else. If it's an issue with my MEP version and Win10, I'll upgrade, but if I just need a new capture device, is there a list somewhere of what ones are good/compatible with Magix? Either USB or PCI-e.

Hi,

I use Vidbox device sold by Staple or similar store this is compatible with Magix and have also his own capturing software. Use the new generation USB 3.0 device or search on Internet.

OMG, thank you so much. I hadn't considered this one in my online searches, but it looks like QVC has Vidbox Video Conversion Pro on sale for $37! Buying it now.

hi this may or may not be helpful , ,,,im not sure 😐

I have window 7, and notice that if I plug my capture device in after I open up magix software,  that magix sometimes (but not always) cant see the device...but if I plug in the capture device before I open up magix software then I have no problem with magix seeing it and it all works fine,,, oddly I don't think this happens always, , ,,, ,,

just something I notice with my older quirky laptop, maybe try it see if your system does same or not,,, ?

good luck , cheers.
