Considering Upgrading....

Reyfox wrote on 2/16/2022, 6:37 AM

Looking at the price of upgrading to Plus from my old 2016 Premium, I see that it also includes Newblue FX Total FX.

The offer is good I think until the end of the month.... this can not be the entire Total FX that I see on Newblue's website, is it?

Is it perpetual or for a year/month/day?

You need to pay attention to this:

Video Pro X, Video Deluxe/Movie Edit Pro, and Movie Studio 18+ are not supported for Stabilizer and Transitions.

Reyfox wrote on 2/16/2022, 7:31 AM

@Nalmcruto is this with Total FX? I really don't need the stabilization, but no Transitions? That's a huge part of Total FX.

Now am wondering what is supported and for how long.

@Reyfox I looked at Newblue Total FX last yr, it was £1500-ish, then it was on offer at Xmas for £700, i was tempted but I prob already have a lot of similar fx's, but when looking again earlier in the yr it had gone back up to £1500 so that answered that for me, But looking just now it's £699 again,

So i can't imagine that offer on the Magix upgrade is the full Newblue Total FX ,

If it is let me know 🤸‍♂️😁😂👍

Former user wrote on 2/16/2022, 7:44 AM

I already have MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2022 Premium but it seems the offer is on the table 👍

I sent a msg to NewBlue in their chat window asking,

Reyfox wrote on 2/16/2022, 7:49 AM

@Former user thanks. For the price of the upgrade and getting the entire Total FX sounds not quite right. But if true, I'm in.

Former user wrote on 2/16/2022, 7:56 AM

@Reyfox Just paid, it says a saving of over £1k so i'm guessing they are meaning the full TotalFX,

I'll get back to you ½hr when i've got emails etc,,

Reyfox wrote on 2/16/2022, 7:59 AM

@Former user thanks! Let me also know if it works in "other" editors too.... 😉

Is this a perpetual license?

As if I don't have enough plugins.....

Hi,

I received this in the much-hated bottom right Update Notifier pop-up; I keep it just to be aware of special offers.

Scroll down a bit and you'll see the details. See the footnote that says "*Transitions 5 Ultimate is also included in this bundle but is currently incompatible with Movie Edit Pro."

So, the questions are:

  1. Will they ever be compatible with MEP, and if so, when?
  2. Will they work with another nle, like Vegas?

Note that NewBlue Stylizers 5 Illuminate comes with Premium for an extra 10$US.

EDIT: Just be aware of some of the problems that have been raised about MEP/VPX recently. Hopefully, they will be sorted out soon.

My NewBlue that i have works in Magix & Vegas, my Boris stuff only works in Vegas, it shows in Magix but doesn't really work well.

Reyfox wrote on 2/16/2022, 8:09 AM

@browj2 thanks for that. I am a "basic" transition user for the most part. But the questions you ask are important ones. Will the transitions work with another NLE? And they SHOULD work with MEP/VPX. There is a HUGE oversight somewhere to not have this compatibility.

I did see for $10 more that Illuminate comes with the Premium purchase. But I "think" it's included with Total FX....

@Former user, yes Boris shows up in VPX on my computer, but like you said, it's problematic in working. I have Title Pro 5 (I uninstalled TP7 because I had too many issues with it), but that too doesn't show up in VPX, but Elements, Filters, and others.

I believe that you're right, as shown in the details on the NB site. Thus, Premium is not a good deal.

@Nalmcruto if Total FX works with other editors, it's worth the purchase if it's a perpetual license. I'd be curious as to Titler Pro and it's integration.

browj2 wrote on 2/16/2022, 8:22 AM

Just took a look at VPX and it includes NB Total FX for an upgrade price of 149$US. I already have most NB effects, but not Titler Pro. That is about all that I would want.

It will be interesting to see how GID makes out playing around with Titler Pro 7 with MEP. From what I have seen so far, it is problematic.

@browj2 TP7 seems to be problematic with Vegas too... I went back to TP5. I too can't wait to see how well it works with MEP...

Like you, I also have a lot of NBFX already. The transitions would be nice since I've used them in the past with another editor.

Nice to have someone to blaze the trail ahead!

Question... can you have multiple versions of VPX on the same computer?

Hi, bit of a pain, I already had MEP 2022 & had these NewBlue already on my system

When i upgraded to MEP 2022 last yr i got Stylizers Ultimate, I couldn't get rid of the red cross, so i went back to Stylizers Excite, still couldn't get rid of the red cross, even after emails with NewBlue. this partly put me off getting TotalFX originally, I have considered just uninstalling all NewBlue because there's nowt worse than clicking on an effect to find it's red crossed out, even though apparently it's activated, & i've been spoilt having the full Boris suite 😁

Anyway, Paid for TotalFX £41, cheap enough for a gamble 🤷‍♂️😂 got emails, download & activation key for MEP 2022, & a link for TotalFX,

MEP install was no prob, link to TotalFX opens this window, the download link doesn't work, it just reloads that window

So i went to NewBlue site, Resources, downloaded TotalFX7, https://newbluefx.com/download-dash/

Install was quick, can't decide if that was too quick 🤔

This is what shows in MEP, 4 main categories, Elements, Stylizers, Essentials & Filters, they all have about as many subsets as you can see behind the drop-down

NewBlue TotalFX page  https://newbluefx.com/products/totalfx/ shows these categories + Transitions, that last one is still eluding me, 🤷‍♂️ a lot of these fx's i can find but haven't been through them all,

The next list on the website Titler Pro,

This a standalone + plugin program it seems, i found it in MEP but not played with it yet,..

lots of 'Magix's' but MEP doesn't show on the Titler Pro compatibility list ,

I have had a very brief look in Vegas, it's in the Media Generator tab

click on the little grey symbol in Video FX & it opens the separate window

From what i've tried so far most of the NewBlue fx's i had are in this 'one' TotalFX so at the mo i'm not going to re-install my old NewBlue stuff, & when it does go wrong i've just got 1 activation code to deal with,

For the price i would give it a go 👍👍👍

Perpetual licence or time limited i still have no idea, I've not read anything saying either so far, The orig price for this at the mo is £699, i'd want perpetual for that 😏 there is a subscription offer on their site so i do think this is perpetual 👍👍,

Former user wrote on 2/16/2022, 10:04 AM

Just had a look in Vegas Transitions, there's quite a few more there now, loads of 3D ones 👍

@browj2 Titler Pro does open really slowly, you'd think you didn't click on it, but it works fine once opened, back in MEP tho & it slows everything pretty much to standstill, I won't be using it in MEP.

browj2 wrote on 2/17/2022, 10:14 AM

@Former user

Hi,

Thanks for confirming what I thought.

I installed Boris CC Title Studio that I got when it was free, and it is still terribly slow in VPX13, even with my new hot machine. At least I get smooth playback after Preview Rendering, something that doesn't seem to work with some other effects. Still, it's a dog. I'll stay away from NB Titler Pro and stick with BluffTitler. BT is much better and is the poor man's After Effects without the slowdown.

@browj2 👍 Boris Title Studio is quite slow, comes to a standstill if you try putting the text on a pic in the timeline, converting/exporting the jpg/png to mp4 helps, There's 'splines' that are for creating background shapes, the corner points are impossible to get hold of to move, It's a shame because i'd like to play with that but i just end up getting frustrated,

Reyfox wrote on 2/17/2022, 11:04 AM

Yeah.... truth on Boris Title Studio. But in other OFX editors, it works great.

Bluff is really good. I've always wondered why they at Bluff never bothered to make their software plugin compatible. They have a killer product.
