correct vertical alignment of contributed videos

Hi there. I'm compiling a video of friends' birthday wishes as a surprise for my best friend's 60th birthday. All of the videos have been shot on smartphones. When I load them into the editing programme some are upside down and one is on its side. How do I get these the right way up?! Very puzzling...

Hi

To rotate the image use the Rotation effect shown in the image below - note there is an issue using the controls X'd out in the image use the rotation dial circled and set a value of 180 for the images that are upside down and +90 or -90 for those that are on their side.

There may be another issue with some of the phone video if you are using the audio from the clips, it may go out of sync due to the phone video being variable frame rate which video editors do not handle correctly in some circumstances. If this does occur the video will need running through a converter to change them to constant framerate - Handbrake is a free converter and can do this.
