Hi, and welcome to the Magix forums.

First, your version of MEP is not fully up to date. Use the Help>Update online to download and update your installation.

However, unfortunately I think that will not resolve the problem you have unless you have created Autosave versions of your project. You need to look in the folder where your projects are stored for something with the name of your project and with the file extension .BAK_MV or MVD or similar. Check the date and time of these and start by opening the most recent. If the project is still not opening properly, go to the next oldest, and so on.

Hopefully, you will be able to salvage at least part of the project and will then need to rebuild the remainder. Power outages are the bane of any computer operation's life! They rarely occur where I live (thankfully) but I also have a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) which, in the event of mains failure allows my computer to save any open files and shut down safely. A UPS is, perhaps, a small "luxury" but it does ensure that a power failure does not "kill" my computer.

One possible sign of hope for you: the error message does not necessarily imply your installation of MEP is now faulty. If it is, that is a whole new can of worms and will necessitate carefully following the instructions posted at https://www.magix.info/us/tutorials/fixing-program-issues-after-windows-10-upgrade--1142475/ Although these are about upgrade problems, the advice is also highly pertinent to problems created by a corrupted installation.

Hi

The error message indicates that a file that holds MEP's configuration settings at start up ( a .ini file) is corrupt.

Assuming you can cancel the error message and MEP loads then try resetting the program back to its default settings - File, Settings, Reset program settings to default then restart the program.

If MEP will not start then with MEP closed you need to do the following:

  1. Locate the file videodeluxe.ini - it should be in the folder

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Videodeluxe23_premium

where username is the name of your account on the computer

  2. Rename or delete this file.
  3. Start MEP it should now load correctly

Note you will lose any folder location customisation you made.

You should now be able to load a backup as Jeff has indicated.

If you live in an area susceptible to brown outs (dips in the line voltage) or occasional power losses a UPS may be a good insurance. I have used UPS's for over 12 years. Where I live we are susceptible to brown outs and the occasional power loss and UPS,s has been a good investment and computer protector.
