Crashing and losing objects

Hello,

I have created an animation in Xara Photo and Graphics Designer 9 and am using it as an overlay in MEP. It works fine when I have only got a video object and the animation over the top of it, but when I try to add a text object or video effect the program crashes (and on one occasion it froze). Sometimes I get an error message and sometimes the program just closes and reopens. When a crash occurs and I reopen the project I was working on the animation is gone, and it seems impossible to get back unless I open a previous project save, meaning I lose all my work with adding text/video effects. I tried to get around it by temporarily muting the track the animation is on, which prevented crashing but I found later that it was still being deleted. It is a real shame as I have found the overlay animation a great way to make video editing easier for me but I am not sure there is a way around this.

Any help would be appreciated.

@JMM

Did you see my video about the bug in using Xara with VPX?

I tested MEP2019 with Xara Designer Pro X yesterday and had the same problems as in the video.

I don't have Xara 9 anymore so I can't test it. If I recall correctly, it worked with MEP back then, had some problems, but that was long ago with a much older version. I don't recall having the same issues as now.

I suggest that you document the problem as I have done and raise a ticket with Magix. They will probably try to tell you that the problem is because of the old version of Xara. This may be partially true as I don't get crashes when I add other things.

On my side, I will advise them that the problem that I have raised is also in MEP, but we need more users to complain before Magix will move on this.

Ok, yeah that looks like the problem I am having. I am wondering if there is a method of integrating the overlay into the video it is overlaying, so making it part of the video (but removing the ability to edit the overlay in xara)?
