Create waveform

lmcsabonyi wrote on 6/14/2018, 1:50 AM

I have Movie Edit Pro 2016. When importing audio files into project there is no “create waveform” option at top of drop down menu.  Even though I have ticked “create waveform on import” in the settings, there is no waveform OR “object handles” in the imported audio file. I have had Magix now for 2 years and have never had this problem before.

Is separate video/audio tracks also on ?

Are you on win10, there was an issue with latest update 1803, as mentioned in https://www.magix.info/us/forum/audio-issue-mts-files--1205780/?page=4#ca1393449

Some users also seems to be missing this create waveform menu item.

Hi

Separate video/audio tracks is not on. The audio files are itunes songs I'm importing.

I DO have windows 10 and just did a major update today. But my problems started about 2 weeks ago.

@lmcsabonyi

. . . . Even though I have ticked “create waveform on import” in the settings, there is no waveform OR “object handles . . . . . The audio files are itunes songs . . . .

Do you hear the audio when you play the timeline?

Note: if you do not hear the audio in MEP, iTunes may be blocking the audio due to DRM, however you would normally get an error message on import.

What format are the audio files that are causing the issue - please use MediaInfo to analyse a problem clip and post the results from the Text view in MediaInfo.

Hi

. . . . Yes,I hear the audio when I play the timeline. They are MP3 format. . . . .

That rules out DRM in iTunes.

MP3 files do not automatically create the waveform, despite the option to do so being set in the programs settings - WAV and OGG create the waveform automatically on import.

. . . . no “create waveform” option at top of drop down menu . . . .

This generally means the waveform has been created, however I have found that if the audio is relatively low volume then you may not see the waveform depending on the track height or zoom level of the timeline.

Does the waveform appear if you zoom both horizontally and vertically the timeline keeping the audio object visible?

If not can you post the MediaInfo requested.

You were right John. I zoomed vertically and there it was! Thank you so much.
