Cut the top end of audio off the boost the balance

I have an audio track that is very quiet, people talking outside, every once again there are pops. What I'd like to do is just cut all the audio above a certain volume off, like level it out. Then boost it to all be much louder. (take the highs away and bring it all up louder) can anyone point me to a tutorial of that? (Magix Pro Plus) I think I may not know right phrases to search for this.

Hi.

What you are asking is technically not possible.

You are confusing frequency with amplitude and your problem seems to be with amplitude. Cutting of the higher end frequencies (treble) frequencies will not help in this instance. The best you can do is use a compressor to level the volume between your pops and background softer volume to a more equal level. Unfortunately this will make the pops more predominant when listening. Trying to cut out pops (as opposed to sharper clicks) are longer in duration than clicks that a learning algorithm may be able to reduce. Such plugins exist and there is one in the program you can use but they are difficult to set up. The one in the program may not be the best one to use.

How to use it can be found in your pdf manual.
